22 Blaze JordanI cannot think of a reason not to get excited about Bryan Torres. He has some pull-side power. He can steal a base. He plays passable defense all over with CF maybe his best position. He is an emergency catcher. His 40-man spot signals those who decide seem to believe in him.

20 GastelumJordan was rumored to be the return for Arenado last spring. It would appear the organization values him. He claimed his 3rd base defense was his most underrated attribute.
He’s only 22 and started at AA last year. In nearly 600 at bats last year, he only struck out 60 times. 19 homers but 99 runs batted in. Hit 270 but .198 at Memphis hurt overall. His power and production actually improved at Memphis despite his troubles.
Like the Baez brothers, I dream on a world where all three hit 30+ dingers next year. At 23 and MLB ready, he’s very interesting with only marginal improvement under that scenario.Hansen is a good pitcher. There was a day when he would have been rated higher, but he’s more than blocked and I think Curtis Taylor is a perfect comp in every way except handedness.
Would the two arms we acquired from the Mets be in the top five mix? Was Ellisalt (SP?) injured seriously or did a new assett feel a twinge and they just shut him down?
Granillo 1, Gastelum 2, Watson at 3?I would actually include both Hence and Hjerpe to the relievers list. Is Granillo still 1?
Gastelum is the reliever of the year with nearly 14 k per 9 innings. Ricardo Velez is the arm with all the helium. He is rising fast.
I don’t see a world where Hansen ever starts a game for St. Louis. So much would have to go wrong. He just doesn’t scream bulloen arm without any velocity or strike out pitch.

Gastelum just seems to be a lock. We forget his frame is still projectable. An increase of just one to two mph would make him Devin Williams light.
We valued Swanson here last year on this listwith him showing us everything we saw last year while at Springfield. Gastelum has done the same.Nick Raquet and Joh. King live…for now.
Perhaps we should consider Torres a prospect now. Perhaps we should consider what 2nd base, corner outfielder might keave.Caesar Prieto and Bryan Torres still exist and have achieved what we dream guys at the lower levels will possibly become. If Nathan Church hits over .280, he will probably play so much that he gets into the gold glove discussion. Church hitting .280 is a far greater lock than Cho finding loft or Mitchell becoming Tony Gwynn.
Ignore Church at your own risk.
Zach Levenson looked like the second coming of Joe Mather once he arrived in Springfield. He’s a pretty good outfielder, too.
Max Ragic has recieved no love, but he is just a little regained velocity from the days he was sitting 96 with that great bender.I looked back for anything to justify discussing Chase Davis, but his approach is so bad, and his strike out rate so profound that he could drop out of the top 20.
It should be noted that my eyes see an outfielder most similar to Mike Siani…seriously. Davis has really developed that aspect.
If the bat ever clicks, he instantly becomes viable in center in St. Louis.How do people here compare Hansen and Davis?
The same could be asked of Tanner Franklin and Cade Winquedt.
I compare Lin to Chris Roycroft, and it sours my perception.I read a front office exec saying they have been conserving Willis’s innings for just that eventuality. They expect him to take the ball every three days from here on out.
Wow… when you consider Franklin, Davis, Molina, Holiday, and all the guys who stepped forward in 24 but need a reset, there are some interesting arms coming up. Add in the Mets duo and some really interesting relief arms and we could be adding an inordinate number of viable pitching arms. Springfield alone had four or five bullpen guys I could see as future MLBers. Gastelum, Velez, Love, Clemente, Burns, and DJ Carpenter is a beast.
Interesting point of comparison: If I were GM of this fantasy, I would jump at trading Roby through every pitcher we have been discussing for Padilla.
Roby, Hence,Hjerpe, Hansen, Davis, and I would consider Mautz.
When I consider Ortiz and Baez, it gets sticky. I think I would value Ortiz and Baez over everyone perhaps including Padilla.
My votes mean nothing.I just wanted to acknowledge Hjerpe and admit my concerns with Roby could and have been applied to Hence and Hjerpe.
