    31. Andrew Dutkanych IV After coming back from his surgery before the 2024 draft, Dutkanych only pitched
17 innings all season long in 2025, and, understandably, had control issues.
    32. Nate Dohm
    33. Ethan Young

The 2026 season should say a lot about all three of these pitching prospects.

Yeah, it’s a long wait for the DSL guys. (In 2017, Ivan Herrera posted a 151 OPS+ in the Dominican Summer League, and it was 2024 before he was a very good MLB hitter.) But Dos Santos may very well play on the left side of the infield long term, and Hunter has a good defensive rep in center field. So the upside for each is substantial.

An aside: the Cards’ top 4 DSL hitters were all just 17, and they averaged a stellar 149 OPS+ this year. It’s a very interesting quartet. I don’t think there’s a potential star there, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they get an above average regular plus a good bench guy from that foursome.

It feels like a fresh start, getting to vote for not one but two new prospects!

    31. Nate Dohm, RHP (my #26). I feel reasonably assured that he will make it to MLB, which is more than I can say about almost anyone else I have ranked behind him, including guys on the 40 man roster. The two pitch combo should continue to produce outs as he moves up. We will see if the Cards move him past the short start crew and into Springfield this year.

    32. Hancel Rincon, RHP (my #28). He doesn’t have much on the fastball, but he’s in the mix of the changeup artists that the Cards have accumulated in the last several years in the system. Another guy who did better at Springfield once he got out of the bad environment at Peoria, I like him to have a great start to the year at Springfield next year and be knocking on the door of Memphis. The big thing for him will be finding at least passable velocity to make his off speed stuff usable at higher levels.

    33. Cade Winquest, RHP (my #29). This one is about results, much like it was with Rincon. He takes the ball and goes out there and battles, again like Rincon. He also improved with the fantastic coaching at Springfield, and he has a little better stuff than Hancel. Yet his command isn’t quite there yet and he’s a little older. He’ll be part of the Springfield rotation next year.

Can anyone tell me why Honeyman is not getting any love here.

He’s coming up for me, but it’s all about health. If you’re never playing, it’s hard to get much of an evaluation.

440 PA’s in 2 1/2 years. They sent him to the Arizona Fall League to get some playing time, and he got injured.

Honeyman has never impressed me. What are his strengths? On base skills maybe. Decent fielder. As far as stats go, I’m a meat and potatoes guy. Average, homers, rbis, obp. He has only obp. And he is brittle.

I still like Hernandez better. More homers more rbis. But don’t get me wrong, Dos Santos is a great talent. As mentioned before this is the best DSL team for prospects in quite a while. Even a pitcher like Cana looks good and is in my top 50. Even Portalstin looks pretty good. He didn’t hit for average, but drew 53 walks, and stole 23 bases. If he ever could improve his hitting he might be a prospect.

I put 3 of the DSL guys into the final 10 of my top 50 rankings. I do struggle to ever rate any of these guys much above that because the game of baseball is just different at that level with how poor some of the pitching is and how poor some of the fielding is. It’s High School baseball between 16-19 year olds. And, I don’t ever even get to see it. Thus, I have no issue having someone else rank these guys higher than I do, but just know that some of these guys will come stateside and perform very poorly and it’s hard to know which ones that may be. It is exciting that our 17-year olds did well though.

Also glad to see Ellisalt get a mention. He was coming up soon on my list.

Add Manoahto my list of intriguing signings, if he is healthy. He’d be cheap and he’s still young.
