Well the bullpen problems have even gotten to Gallegos tonight. That’s unfortunate. Would’ve been nice to pick up a few more runs when the middle of the order had the opportunity tonight
It is becoming quite crazy to see so much success for former Cards. Wisdom still in an insanely small sample size, but helping the Cubs against the Padres in a tight race is never what you want to see
Well it could’ve been a real nice start but we only manage 1. I don’t have any stats, but I do feel like Arenado has failed to break too many innings like that open this year. Even one sac fly from the middle of the order would’ve worked

I think Cabrera has been lucky his meltdowns haven’t hurt us and his stat line as much as they could have
Surprised Ponce doesn’t have more meltdowns. Helsley kind of an anomaly to have a shutdown or a meltdown so often it seems
Webb’s only shutdown must’ve been in chicago last Monday
The hard part for this pen is I just don’t see how you fix it internally and the price to fix it externally would probably be quite high
Seems we need to add at least 3 pieces internally or externally. As much as I love Gant’s job in rotation, this is why I would’ve loved to see us get the opportunity to push him back to pen
Our pen is just so lost and having John Gant there would be a big piece
Maybe the fix is a trade for a starter and two pen arms rather than 3 pen arms. It still makes me wonder if the increase in innings after years in pen will hurt Gant late in season whether he’s in rotation or pen
Good point hammerfest. If there wasn’t a cross up with yadi and genesis I’d have to say that second walk is a K for out 3.
I’m the biggest yadi far out there; however, It’s somewhat alarming we’re 15-4 with kisner behind the dish

It’s tough to have faith when the bullpen is this weak as a unit and Reyes and Gallegos have thrown two in a row each

I think that’s the plan. They’re sacrificing Oviedo’s development because all organizational pitching depth is either not ready (Liberatore) or just not there (all the bad ML pitchers. The Covid season put development of some minor leaguers a year behind and were really seeing the outcome of that, especially when combined with ozuna goldschmidt and arenado trades. Not saying I disagree with trades but you lose alcantara weaver gallen and gomber who take Oviedo out of this situation

Thomas should’ve had that guy at home by a mile. No chance Williams messes that up. And neither of them hit so might as well go with Williams
Also I’m an Oviedo fan. Not his fault we have no pitching depth in org and he basically went from high A to the majors
It’s kind of sad that with our depth our lineup is just as dangerous, if not more dangerous, with a pitcher rather than a DH haha
Burleson’s hitting is very encouraging. I was really intrigued when we drafted him and early returns are good. Seems like a guy who fit the polished hitter mold in college and is realizing some power early in his professional career.
Sad to see Jordan Walker on IL. Was having a great time following him. Apparently he hit a ground out 117 mph a few weeks ago, which was harder than the hardest hit ball in the majors at the time.
Has anyone seen any Springfield games? Nick Plummer has a great line and wondering if he looks the part. Would be huge to get some value out of an old first rounder who seemed like he would never do much.
