Does anyone know a source for DSL player stats. In yesterday’s game they played 6 players hitting over 300 and 3 with OPS of more than 1.000. Luna in limited play is over .400 with OPS of 1.577.

Maybe no International signings in 2027! Not sure if they will resume after a contract is settled on or not.

In a lockout, expense gets managed especially tightly. Not including scouting costs, each team can save $6-8 million in cash for signing bonuses right away in 2027. It is sad but not surprising.
If the owners get their way as well for the international draft with a minimum age of 18, then next year their wouldn’t be any draft/signings either most likely to account for that gap year of upping the age requirement.

It is highly likely that the delay is due to the required background and drug testing. If he fails, he was never officially signed.
Since he has never been announced, may we assume that the signing is either delayed or won’t happen? I remember the publicized “signing” of Luis Manuel León back in 2023 that never happened, and he signed in 2024 with the Marlins.

I have read to the effect that whole set up is very exploitive and neither the player nor his family ever see the great majority of the money. I’m sure the argument is its for their own good.
Does anyone know how much International money we potentially have left to spend this year? I know we have signed some players in years past after the regular season before the end of the year.

It is not surplus money. It is cap room the team is allowed to spend up to. From a financial perspective, any cap space not used is expense avoided. From a baseball perspective, it is opportunity lost forever.
Willie Jr. will figure it out. He specializes in these sorts of things. If there’s dollar or two available, he’ll snap it up and put it to work…

Not really. You don’t need to buy lottery tickets, but if you don’t, you are assured of never winning. What is the optimal number of tickets to buy when you do participate?
However, the team does need to sign players each year. No one knows how many signed/how much spent is enough.
To the question about how much cap money remains, my running total is half of what mudville reports. They had enough remaining to send cap space to the Reds for Ferguson. Wasted but I have to assume they weren’t going to use it.
There is a parallel case for the domestic draft. Flores (and his predecessors) were always allowed to spend up to 105% of the cap. That changed in 2025 and 2026 when they stayed under 100%. That saved the organization about $1.5 million of expense the last two years. We’ll never know if they could have drafted even better with the additional spend, however.
I have seen reports of players holding showcases in the DR with the Cardinals in attendance. I know that doesn’t mean that they will sign anyone, but just wondered if they had enough left to sign someone late, like they have done in previous years. Maybe a jewel will drop in their laps if they “outbid” other teams that may have spent most of their cap.
