Dos Santos and Lebrón are playing very well for our FCL team.

Tre Richardson was a very good college player at TCU. I saw him play against Arkansas here in the NCAA tournamanet a few years ago and he was the best player on the field. I was thrilled when the Cardinals drafted him and he has steadily been in my prospect rankings.

Any time a 15th rounder does anything its exciting. Richardson hasn’t been on my radar but it looks like he is soon to hit his way out of A level.

Funny about Richardson. Late in spring camp, he went crazy one day. I think he had two triples and stole a base or two other times up. He was the most dynamic player of the field that day, but was the first time all spring he stood out to me.

Richardson has been at Peoria for just over two full seasons and is 24 years old. So, it is time for him to get going.

Peoria’s rotation got a big boost recently with the addition of Van Dyke and Odle. The other starters from opening week are Franklin-Aita-Fajardo-Sequera. Sequera may be the odd man out since he has been mostly inefficient in his 11 starts. He probably would be served better at FCL to get his mojo back.

This leaves Palm Beack scrambling to put a rotation together. With Young now on the IL only Crossland and JMartinez remain from the opening week rotation. Using bullpen games to get by sending Breckheimer-Graham-Shelagowski-Batista to start games with poor results. Sequera could take a spot…. but who knows.

There is at least one A-league opening if the coaching staff feels that one of the youngsters should be challenged.

My, I was thinking the same thing. It s a heck of a rotation for Peoria, although I suspect Franklin and/or Fajardo are prime candidates for promotion.
I wonder if Cruz or Cabrera would be deemed ready for Palm Beach. Dutkanych might be another possibility. I was hoping to see Franco do well, but he hasn’t pitched much, or very well. They can fortify the Beach birds, but that’s going to leave our FCL teams rotation like a dumpster fire.

The difficulty for the Peoria rotation guys that could get promoted is that all the guys in the Springfield rotation seem deserving of their spot. Doyle, Cijntje, Molina, Lin, Davis.

Re Hence’s inning, Gameday indicated that he mostly relied on his changeup. I don’t recall seeing a fastball above 91. Maybe I missed a pitch or two. Not sure what that means.

Deniel Ortiz played in the FCL today. I didn’t see any news of him starting a rehab but really good to see.

There’s a subscriber article on the front page that includes Ortiz that was posted this afternoon. Check it out.

Richardson has come out of nowhere. Can he sustain it? His previous numbers say no, but I am rooting for him.

I noticed Rajcic had probably his worst outing of the year Saturday. Hopefully he snaps back.

I wonder I’d Richardson is for real, or just had the week of his life. I suspect we will continue to see him hit for more power. His strikeout rate jumped also. It seems like a change of approach. Hopefully there’s not too much swing and miss now.

Richardson has been at High-A for two full seasons now, since May 2024.

He has 10 HR on the season, versus 4 the previous three seasons combined.

His K rate is up to 31%, versus career 22%.

Yes, that is a change in approach. He appears to be selling out for power, as the old approach was not working.

It helps being older and more experienced than the competition. I’ll come around to him after he moves up.
