No need to rush him, but Rodriguez could be in the Lou by age 21-22. If he progresses as he has, he’s our starting catcher in 2028, if he can stay at the position.

I think Rincon could be a valuable reliever, but I’m afraid he won’t get a chance and get taken in the rule 5 draft.

With only one game to go, our minor league teams have all lost. I think Hjerpe is listed as PB starter, but I believe our new top 30 prospect, Xavier Cruz pitches tonight after Hjerpe. Cruz throws very hard, and has a. Ice breaking ball. Listed as 6’3 153 pound he has room to add velocity. Get that youngster some cheeseburgers.

I knew Rodriguez would be fine. He is such an advance hitter. Him and Baez ought to swap notes.

I’ll be curious if Richardson continues his hot streak at AA. I think he may be rule 5 eligible. But as Brian says, hitters are rarely taken in the rule 5, especially those with a track record of success.

I think Gastelum is ready for the show. In his last 15 2/3 innings he has not allowed a run, with ZERO walks and 20 Ks. Dfa Roycroft.

Walkers improvement has made this draft very special. Burleson has had a great year so far. And we may have a Tink Hence sighting this year.

The bullpen has not been good beyond OBRien and Soriano. Romero has struggled, but can regain his form before the trade deadline I hope. Svanson has done better recenrly.

I think this current lineup is more exciting than I was expecting it to be. Walkers dramatic improvement, Wetherholts appearance on the scene. Burleson is having his best year. Herrera has stayed healthy. Church has had an impact. In fact, the demotion of Scott and Gorman along with the Jordan addition and Church’s return trading 2 pluses for 2 inuses. It’s good for Gorman and Scott in that they can work on their swings at AAA. Even Crooks is a major upgrade from Pages.

Good to see Dos Santos promoted. If Palm Beach needs another infielder, Hernandez or LeBron may be next.

I see that Pomeranian is dosignated for assignment. Why not dfa Bruihl and add him?

I have said before that I thought we’d be sellers at the trade deadline. Now we may be buyers or neutral in that we may open up roster space and trade excess pieces and our additions may be from Memphis. Maybe do it would likely be given a qualifying offer, if they don’t try and extend him. And a May trade still might be possible if someone blows us away with an offer and call up Mathews, Mautz, or Dobbins. But very likely May stays put like Romero.

I think we have to be liking our starting pitching. I’d like to grade them. I am grading on expectations versus results.

    Liberatore C-/D+
    Leahy C+/C
    Pallante C
    May B, maybe B+
    Dobbins B- or Incomplete
    McGreevy A-

    Overall grade B-

It will be interesting to see how many draft picks to our top 50. There should be a lot of quality prospects added. Maybe 5 or 6. Maybe we draft Kuhns, Franklin and Doyle’s ex teammate.

I don’t know if anyone wants to tackle a mid season top 50 prospect list, but I have made mine. I guess we’d have to wait for the draft though. There will be a lot of top picks added afterward.

It’s interesting that Dutkanych and Graham are piggybacking each other. Both recovering from Tommy John surgery one year apart. Scouting reports were good in both of them prior to them getting drafted. I’d like to see them pitch. The numbers indicate that they both give up a lot of homers for the small sample size. Dutkanych walks too many. Both also strike out a large percentage of batters. They would be in my top 50.

Thanks LA. I thought I saw him on the left side of te diamond in a picture. Immediately not sure I’d take Hacopian with the 13th pick. But the Kuhns kid had a very good scouting report, and I like the 2 prep pitchers, the 2 seem to be pretty advanced with good command and live arms.

Baseball America recently came out with their writers doing a mock draft of the first 75 players doing a mock draft.

    2026 Draft

    13) Hacopian RHP Tex A & M
    32) Kuhns RHP Tennessee
    50) Hirschkorn HSRHP
    68) Waechter HSRHP
    72 Williams HS SS/OF

Interesting that they go back to Tennessee for a high draft pick, and the mock has them taking 3
    high schoolers.

I stand corrected. Hacopian played third base. Unless he pitched also?

Do we think Chaim listen to our pleas to add Jordan?

I am looking forward to this years draft. With all of these draft picks it could be quite a haul. They can take a variety of draftees, like safe senior picks saving $$, or or they can overpay higher ranked prospects. We don’t know what the draft rules will be in 2027, but we can cross our fingers that Wetherholt wins rookie of the year. And if the rules aren’t altered we could get a post 2nd round competitive balance pick. I’d trade a year of service for a post first round round draft pick. And hopefully there isn’t a stoppage in 2027. I would then look at extending our key players.

I wonder I’d Richardson is for real, or just had the week of his life. I suspect we will continue to see him hit for more power. His strikeout rate jumped also. It seems like a change of approach. Hopefully there’s not too much swing and miss now.

I prefer taking a pitcher like Flukey or Carlon, if one is still available, with Flukey being my first choice. Flukey reminds me of our own Uncle Charlie, Waino. I wanted us to take Doyle last year, which was a first.

I maybe looking too long in the future, but beyond our possible 2026 draft picks, we might have the rookie of the year and a competitive balance post 2nd round pick. I know the rules may change, but I would also angle to acquire more competitive balance picks at our trade deadline. Just call them players or picks to be named later. If we deal Romero, Nootbaars, or May I hope we get a haul.

Richardson has come out of nowhere. Can he sustain it? His previous numbers say no, but I am rooting for him.
