I don’t understand why Memphis doesn’t try Jordan in left field? If Holliday and Schwarber can man the position, can’t Jordan do it also? I’ve never seen much of Jordan. Is he not much of an athlete?
He makes Burleson look a premium athlete. Jordan can play 1B or DH, they had him at 3B more this year but have mostly abandoned that now too. The main issue with Jordan is swinging at pitches out of the strike zone. He may have a lower K rate, but it will go WAY up at the MLB level because he chases a LOT out of the zone and at the AAA level is able to at least get a bat on some of them that won’t happen at the MLB level.
I’m not comparing to Burleson. How athletic do you think Holliday or Schwarber were or are. I loved Holliday as a hitter, but Jordan has to be better than those 2. Try him there, if he fails, so be it. It is a position of need for us. We need to,find out about Jordan. Is he AAAA? There’s only one way to find out. I think the big question is he better than Gorman? Play him some at third and dh too.
You want to just do this on the fly. I know they did it with Herrera a few games last year and Memphis could do the same but he hasn’t been give a full season at 3rd in the minors.
The better plan is to put him at 3rd for most if not all and then give him some time in Florida training and the AFL. We clearly need something there next year. Assuming we have a season.
Jordan made two errors the last time he played third, which was Saturday. I have seen him on TV a couple times now. He is not as unathletic as some say. The head shot photo is misleading in that sense. That said, he is not the most graceful defender ever. Whether he has any future role in MLB depends on how his bat plays at that level. There is only one way to find out.
