So Morris made his comment in 2015 and apologized and has there been any problems because of that since then?
Since I have never read of any problems with Norris and his teammates what was the reason for Ortiz’s comments?Attention whore to get people to read his trasNothing wrong with enjoying the game and having some fun.Being over the top and hotdogging has no place.Act like a Pro.I want to see Pros playing the games not clowns.Nobody said to be a robot.Respecting the traditions of the game matters. But traditions don’t seem to matter to some people.Maybe you get a thrill out clowns but if I want to see clowns I go to the circus.
Another thing.I think a lot of younger players of all countries don`t respect the traditions of baseball. It is just a way to make money and get wealthy and enjoy the benefits.Too many “look at me ” types.Pretty soon baseball is going to be like the NFL were guys jump around and act like idiots after making a tackle or whatever.Too damn many hotdog players.
Damn right .Ortiz is a rabble rousing POS.Norris spoke out and then apologized.Did Ortiz jump on Molina when he took his cheap shot via twitter at Matheny? I do n`t recall Ortiz ripping on Molina.
The whining and crying is getting beyond ridiculous. This a smart veteran versatile signing.Who gives arats ass what rabble rousing jackleg Ortiz says.
I like the move.Veteran bullpen arm who has starter experience if needed.Pitched very solid last season until knee injury and gave up a couple of grandslams which skews the stats down but all in all a solid move.
Andrew Morales RP
Arturo Reyes RPI think both guys have very solid seasons at Memphis in the bullpen and both get consideration for 40-man roster because they do so well.Injuries and underperformance by others could lead to getting a shot.
You can’t have TWO managers.Molina should shut his GDamn mouth and play and sit when the mangers says sit.Matheny knows guite a bit about catching.Only a blind Molina fan who refuses to see Molina’s decline in agility and mobilty .He is still good but nothing like he used to be.Age and wear and tear catch up to everyone eventually.Molina isn’t immune to father time.
Another point….if he is a real team first guy he would understand why he needs more rest as he ages .IMHO he is NOT a “WE” guy anymore. He has turned into a “ME” guy.Why ccan`t the Cards draft big bats ?The system is poor power-wise.You can have all the OBP guys you want but somebody still has to be at least a threat to hit the ball out of the park. Before anyone jumps up and hollers ” look at the SF Giants a couple of years back” do you really think Cards could do that?IMHO you can describe the Cards system as heavy on the pitching, decent speed and very poor power.
The owners and GMs have finally figured out longterm free agent deals rarely are worth the dollars over the length of the contract. So now the players cry foul because the Golden Goose has constipation.I find it beyond silly that the players actually would expect the aveage fan to feel any sympathy for those poor millionare ballplayers .As for the owners……they live in a different world .
Thanks Brian.Looking forward to seeing it.
Ordered the PDF version.Waiting semi-patiently.
Rotworld says Cards signed 33 year old RHP Edward Mujica to a minor league contract with a spring invite.Mujica pitched for Tigers in 2017 before getting released early in season.
I see 7 of the NRI guys have MLB experience.Pena and Baron at Catcher.Pena does have several cups of coffee with KC and Baltimore.Baron saw a few weeks with Seattle a few years back.
Gilmartin and Guilmet both have time in the bigs.Gilmartin was actually a decent bullpen guy for the Mets a couple of yeasrs ago.Guilmet short time with Yaks/Balt?Tovar cup of coffee with Mets a couple years back.Mejia got time in Stlouis last year and offers defense and little offense.Schafer still trying to do both or just pitch?
Of all the NRIs with MLB time i think Francisco Pena and Sean Gilmartin could possibly see STLouis this season if injuries and/or ineffectiveness cause roster churn.Pena as a semi-veteran backup Catcher if Molina/Kelly get hurt.Gilmartin as a Lefty bullpen guy if Lyons/Cecil/Sherriff get hurt. All i know is the Cards need to find some offense in the next draft or two.System wise the entire bunch lack power .There have to be some good bats available. You have to have some guys that can drive the ball and some guys who can hit some Homeruns.
I can’t think of a single guy in the system that profiles as a future 25-30 Homerun guy besides O’Neill .Bader has a chance at 15-20 Homers with everyday playing but no one else i can think of.A lifetime NO vote concerning Bonds,Clemens,Sosa,Manny.Never want any of them in the HOF.Add Pete Rose to the list also.Any writer voting for Rose should lose his voting rights for a year.
I think it will be Gregerson,Lyons,Leone starting the season as 3 headed closer.
January 20, 2018 at 10:20 am in reply to: Cardinals OF roundup, who stays and who goes? (Grichuk) #42219I think Valera will be lucky to hold on to his 40-man roster spot with Schrock and Edman both in AAA some time this season.Valera offers little besides the ability to switch-hit.I think he gets passed by very quickly by Schrock a nd Edman.Munoz is already on the 40-man roster and he can play several I NF spots and some OF.
January 20, 2018 at 12:33 am in reply to: Cardinals OF roundup, who stays and who goes? (Grichuk) #42186Hope all the fans have patience when Fowler hurts his foot/heel again and Pham pulls a muscle patting himself on the back or whatever little ouchie sends him on his yearly DL trip.
January 19, 2018 at 7:29 pm in reply to: Cardinals OF roundup, who stays and who goes? (Grichuk) #42170So what happens when Pham and Fowler make their annual trips to the DL?Cards traded the wrong outfielder.Fowler should have been sent packing.
Overreact much people.Spring training is still a while from starting and MO has said he was still kicking the tires on some bullpen guys.Hold off on the pitchforks and torches .
January 14, 2018 at 5:01 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2017-2018 #41777I wasn’t aware that the season started today.Get a grip people.
January 14, 2018 at 2:52 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2017-2018 #41773All these Bullpen guys are STILL AVAILABLE
32 Tony Watson LP 7-4 3.38 10 saves 71 games
35 Brian Duensing LP 1-1 2.74 68 games
35 Sergio Romo RP 3-1 3.56 55 games (former SF Giants closer)
35 Matt Albers RP 7-2 1.62 2 saves 63 games
37 Matt Belisle RP 2-2 4.09 9 saves 62 games
33 Tyler Clippard RP 2-8 4.77 5 saves 67 games
39 Pete Moylan 0-0 3.49 79 games
33 Bud Norris RP 2-6 4.21 19 saves 60 games
32 Fernando Abad LP 2-1 3.30 1 save 48 gamesany of these guys would add solid arm to the bullpen.
Why not just sign Addison Reed and keep your prospects and players? That just makes more sense to me.Rumors say Reed wants 3-4 years 8-9 million yearly. If thats the case then sign him MO/Girsch instead of haggling for every nickel.Reed is the young good bullpen guy available and has been a closeer.Sign him MO.
January 12, 2018 at 1:06 pm in reply to: Cardinals OF roundup, who stays and who goes? (Grichuk) #41589Brian-considering Martinez is a poor OF and bader does offer a good skill set also i would hope its between RG and Bader.Keep Martinez at 1B where he casn`t kill you with his Dick Stuart defense.
