You can throw out the ’20 season for many of the prospects because other than a few rumors out of Springfield who knows? The other prospects, mostly the younger ones, spent 2020 hopefully keeping in shape.
When 2021 starts up in the Spring we’ll get a better idea of who did what. Using stats from 2019 may not fit what Spring Training will show as production will become apparent.
Did I say “yeep”… that’s not even a word.
Yeep… 3 at a time would be the way to go. There’s no deadline set so there is plenty of time to stretch it out.
I would pass on Lindor right now if I am the Cardinals. The asking price will be astronomical even if for just one year and we are more than one player away from being a world series contender. I think they should stick to their guns with small incremental moves for 2021 then go big next winter when they will have the financial flexibility.
Total agreement…. worth repeating.
Let the trade predictors have some fun with Lindor… not happening though.
the short term pain will allow the Cardinals to see what they have for depth and make better off season decisions after the 2021 season.
Hmmm…. with Molina playing every game.
Perhaps I should have used ON and OFF.
Well I’m on now so I’ll open up with #11 Woodford. The way the world is turning… he might be in the Card’s rotation on opening day.
Who the hell knows…. I’m praying to the baseball gods that ’21 will be a lot better than this disastrous year…. and on every count. I’m starting to lose it.
Brian would have you believe that I lost it long ago Ha ha.
Rondon and Herrera get added and one spot left for Wainwright.
Nine additions and nine departures from the TCN 6-17-2020 rankings.
IN: the seven 2020 draft picks plus LJimenez and Redmond.
It looks like the Met’s new owner will be throwing some $$ around.
This new wave of C-19 is unnerving for all sports fans. Will this influence 2021 severely? Will the vaccine save the day in time for spring training and onward to be somewhat normal? If the Cards see a new 2 year Molina contract as too much of a dent in the budget… how is the time for them to part ways on mutual good terms. Is the Heineman addition a clue? Probably not.
#10 Woodford. Sorry I missed #9…. down in the weather day for me. Better today. Rondon almost made #10 a tie.
Another big jump up for Oviedo. He has constantly been impressive and deserves the 8 spot. I expect him to close in on the top-3 very soon.
Brian your assessment of Yepes was spot on and your ranking at #47 seems accurate. I was optimistic about Yepes when he started out so well in the organization and saw a guy that can hit and had some pop. I followed him closely, but as you stated his career stalled and his ceiling has dropped significantly.
A big turnaround year in 2021 is about the only thing that will put him back on the organization’s radar. Otherwise…. well, you stated it already.
Does anyone ever check on their crystal ball? What were the Cardinal forecasts for last season? That would be interesting.
What might shake his (DeWitt) confidence? My guess is a
prolonged downturn of results by the MLB team
, coupled with a decline in attendance and ratings.
Little by little we are closer to an agreement. Here he is again… wishin’ and hopin’ for one of the players that he goofed on will turn ’21 into a career season or at least come close to being something worth his paycheck. At some point DeWitt will catch on and say “what was I thinking”?
In which off-season are you hoping for a change? Mozeliak is under contract through 2023.
Gee…. I didn’t even mention Mozeliak’s name in the comment. But its good to know that you automatically look at Mozeliak as the main culprit.
If I were DeWitt I would be looking for a scapegoat to cover up the top brass boo-boos. They are so evident and a constant source for fans to feel that the FO is inept. Hence… not much faith in turning it around any time soon.
This group gave us little value this season and I don’t expect much in ’21. Jeez… that’s a lot of money going down the tubes. I wonder what this team would look like without the FOs poor judgment, Perhaps we should be looking upstairs for an off-season need (change).
Since Knizner is eligible, he’s my #5. There’s a chance he will be playing in St. Louis a lot more than most here expect. He could have an immediate impact… I have a feeling that with an open opportunity he will blossom in ’21.
Also…. I’m with stl25 I appreciate the job you are doing.
Let’s avoid confusion now and go with bcc. Are there any other ineligibles?
Straight up, MM and the sooner the better with C-19. It has scarred the planet earth for too long…. there’s got to be an end to this thing…. someday. Heaven help us.
Having the Yankees affiliate in Hudson Valley will certainly help the attendance there. That might become a tough ticket. Does that put State College in play for the Card’s system?
Although getting rid of CMart’s salary may be the right thing to do but he is in the Death Valley of his career value. Its probably the roster spot that will see him on the move. What’s the probability of him being in the rotation out of ST next year if he is still around?
Yep, Thompson for me.
