I had Burleson higher up but I’ll take him at #5.

Thomas needs to be added. He showed his value during the season and in the AFL big time… and has more potential than some others already on the 40-man roster. We need some starting pitchers, right?

Surprisingly Graceffo passed over McGreevy in effectiveness. IMO McGreevy will reverse that in ’23.

I posted this on the Reyes comments:

I just wish that Reyes would play up to his potential. If he does it would be like trading for a much needed starting pitcher and I’d rather see him do that in a St.Louis uniform. 2023 will determine his fate with the Cards.

    Ditto for Liberatore.

bc, I think after the first five rounds we should go with two in rounds 6-20. It would speed up the process and I feel it won’t change the results. Just saying.

Cepeda was very fun to watch but give me Goldschmidt.

NEW ARENA made predictions for the landing spots for the top 30 free agents. Quintana to the White Sox and the only player that they had for the Cards was…. wait for it…. Matt Carpenter. Our roster spots are at a premium right now so is this possible?

We as ardent Cardinal fans will always overestimate the prospects that are high on the TCN prospect rankings. It seems like every year we expect to pencil in certain MILBers that will be stars for years to come. You all know the suspects. Conversely we have had a few under-the-radar rookies who have been the guys that we hoped for. Fan is short for “fantasizers”. We are all guilty of that as well as fans of 29 other teams.

Undoubtedly Mozeliak already has replacement coaches in mind…. maybe even just a signature away. I think that there will be a couple of surprises as usual from the top echelon of the FO. We just need to stay tuned in…. the new hires will be in place before Dec. 25th. Most years Mo likes to have the following season in order by then.

Add the Marlins to the list of 29 teams that will have a better manager than us going into ’23.

The top of Mozeliak’s wish list for ’23 is DeJong being able to hit his way out of a paper bag to justify his starting at SS permanently. It will also justify his extension that is an albatross around Mo’s neck. That will solve the SS issue but will actually create several other questions.

The Cards will go into Spring training with six spots up for grabs. Make sure that you have a pencil with an erasure when projecting the lineup. Like BW said there are so many options.

Predicting the starting rotation is in itself a whole different ballgame.

Carpenter did it on his own after being released by the Cards…

This begs the question, why didn’t he do it before being released?

Its my opinion that Edman strives harder to improve his skills than most MLBers.

Hopefully he gets it in St. Louis. Marmol or Schumaker? Skip every day of the week.

I’m surprised to hear so little about Carlson-O’Neill-Nootbaar-Burleson. Changing the CF spot involves all of these players plus others. Put Gorman-DeLuzio-Yepes on that pile as well.

Let’s get the top priority done which is getting a two-way catcher and see who is still around.

    https://www.vivaelbirdos.com/2022/10/17/23408298/coming-up-with-a-potential-trade-for-sean-murphy

IMO Winn is still at least 1 1/2 years away. Walker will arrive sooner. Instead of scrambling up the middle infield and the OF as well it may be better to trade Winn and hold onto the other prospects that would need to be included in a trade for the previously noted catcher.

Wynn’s ranking and value may be at the highest point of his career…. or it could be the lowest. MAYBE the same could be said about Edman. Pick a SS and a CF of the future and email this discussion on to Mozeliak because in the end…. well you know…. he’s full of surprises for us.

Before getting started we need to clarify who is eligible for our list and who isn’t.
