Peoria’s rotation got a big boost recently with the addition of Van Dyke and Odle. The other starters from opening week are Franklin-Aita-Fajardo-Sequera. Sequera may be the odd man out since he has been mostly inefficient in his 11 starts. He probably would be served better at FCL to get his mojo back.
This leaves Palm Beack scrambling to put a rotation together. With Young now on the IL only Crossland and JMartinez remain from the opening week rotation. Using bullpen games to get by sending Breckheimer-Graham-Shelagowski-Batista to start games with poor results. Sequera could take a spot…. but who knows.
There is at least one A-league opening if the coaching staff feels that one of the youngsters should be challenged.
I recently have started keeping a close eye on Cuban OF Luis Pino. On May 13th he was sent up to A+ Peoria from Palm Beach despite his .196 BA and .520 OPS in 56 ABs Since then with Peoria in 36 ABs he’s batting .343 and his OPS is 1.153. He won’t be able to maintain those numbers for the rest of the season and its a small sample but I always like to watch guys that improve as they climb up the levels. Maybe we have something here for the future.

The promotions of Gurevitch and RRodriguez are sure to mean other moves. Springfield already has a bunch of Cs on the roster none of whom have shown much this season, meaning RRod moves right in.. This move might give Sammy Hernandez more playing time for the Chiefs, (He has also had many games at 1st). Presently Peoria has Kross and McGeev as backups but there’s a chance Heath may get moved up. The Gurevitch move can free up Kross to get more action behind the plate.

AAA Memphis 14-7 BTorres, Jordan, Prieto and Crooks are carrying the 1st place Redbirds.
The rotation has been better than fine. Some good dominating pitching. BP a little shaky but coming around.AA Springfield 5-10 Just the opposite of MEM. Is Jon Jon Gazdar the best they have? Could be.
A+ Peoria 5-9 Same as SPR…. rotation not keeping them in games. RaRodriguez and Franklin can’t carry this team but they are fun to follow.A Palm Beach 11-4 The beach bums are in the unfamiliar spot of 1st place. The pitching has given up more than 5 runs in only four games. The rotation has been very good… GS average =55.3. The FSL is dedicated towards pitching so the offense is weak for all the teams.
BTW…… hey Pugs….. right score wrong team. How do you see today’s game? The Fan Dual guys will be wanting to know.
This VSIII situation has been brewing for the last couple of seasons…. along with the Walker displeasure.(VSIII may become another miracle) I’m not sure that ScottIII is the long term answer for this team considering we are looking at ’29/’30 as the turn around years. Maybe Honeyman or Peete suit that spot better. Our draft pick should be the best HS CF available. Look to the future my frieds…. look to the future.

Same for me Jn…… a Redskins fan until the organization went to hell. First time in my life that I gave up on a favorite team…. which includes the Detroit Redwings. I almost gave up on the NFL but now I’m watching again. Changed my allegiance to the Bengals. I still check in on the ‘skins. Does anyone need Redskin memorabilia?
But the Cardinals and Redwings are etched on my heart until death do us part.
Someone missed Cho’ 3 SBs in the Chiefs opening night in Cedar Rapids
Only 2,500 in attendance in Memphis on a nice Friday evening. So little support for the 7up 0down Redbirds. The Organization should be looking for greener pastures. Memphis is a mess.
The AA Springfield Cards drew 6,153 in Amarillo.
jj…. that was the Sept. 16th game won by the Cards 3-0. McG threw 7.0 scoreless frames. That start followed his 62 GS t Sea on the 10th.He pitched 6.0 innings and 1 ER…. a game the Cards BP would lose 4-2. There were some signs back in ’25 that McG could be a #2.
Last year BW held a contest for the first Cards HR of the season. If he’s doing it this year my vote is for Burleson. Happy opening day boys and girls. Green grass….. play ball! Cards 4 Rays 3.
This has piqued Wetherholt’s interest. He’d rather play his natural position. I wonder what the catch would be for Winn?
It was a great outing by Mathews. He’ll have to work on not getting rattled. Right after the Gorman throwing error, he gives up a dinger.
I can remember exactly where the school bus, that I was riding in, was when Mazeroski hit that HR. A lot of other kids were listening on their little transistor radios…. and they were all Yankee fans…. except me. Berra going back…. back. Surely a piece of baseball legend with one swing…. sending that pitch over the wall at the old Forbes Field. Perfect. RIP Mr. Bucco.
We enter the season with low expectations but a fair amount of potential upside. Teams that outperform expectations usually have a lot of pleyers having one of their best seasons. We have a fair chance of doing just that.

Four teams wanted Soriano (Miami-Baltimore-Atlanta-Washington)….. and they didn’t and all of this occurring in three and a half months. This stinks of a Mozeliak sort of move. A wishin’ and hopin’ magic wand move. OR maybe they didn’t want to just release Granillo…. that might of had a more severe backlash. So Granillo gets a shot at another organizations roster and Soriano gets another sticker on his suitcase come March. IDK, this is just some more stuff to challenge the toughness of true Cardinal fans.

What? Is this sticking to the plan? Somebody upstairs isn’t going in the right direction.
The value of the franchise is down for now. But that value is going to shoot back up again as soon as the Cardinals resume their winning ways.

Mud…. with all due respect. Define “winning ways”. There’s no guarantee that the enthusiasm for the team will return as we’re living in a different cultural climate. All the empty seats may never be filled again. IMO, he may be good for the Baseball Village or whatever they call it. And what has he done for the fans lately? There’s no doubt that the franchise is in freefall right now.
I’m going to try very hard to be optimistic…. but that’s a tough row to hoe.
DeWitt’s pockets touch the ground. I’d prefer Hoffman, but it ain’t happening. Right now this teamed seems to be cursed.
The Cardinals will never be any good again as long as the DeWitt’s own the team.
