As Gorman will attest to – AAA pitching isn’t even close to ML pitching. I wonder how much of Baez slash line will translate after 100 at bats?

I’ve seen them both play in person and I think Winn’s defense is comparable to Ozzie’s although I think Ozzie was better.
Sure, Winn is only in year 3 and has a loooooooooong way to go staying at an elite defensive level to be in the career conversation with Ozzie but – taking the first three years of each I can say that SO FAR – Winn compares rather favorably.
Now, in 10 years it may be a completely different discussion.

Pinch hitting for Crooks at 6-5 with one out in the 8th and the game begging to be tied was a EASY decision. Why didn’t he do it?
I do worry about his back and other injuries though. Right now he seems to be able to mostly play though the bumps and bruises but in 3-4 years what will it look like?
It took Ozzie Smith quite awhile to become a good hitter didn’t it?
I find it hard to believe that a 1-8 6.48 ERA guy is starting the game for Philadelphia tonight – or any night for that matter.
A lineup can afford a couple of defense first guys in it – typically those tend to be SS and C.
You just can’t have 4 or 5 of them and expect to be good.
Rockies haven’t been to the playoffs since 2018, Cardinals haven’t been since 2022 but last won a playoff game in 2020 and a series in 2019.
The Cardinals have a solid plan in place – whether it works or not remains to be seen.
I don’t follow the Rockies at all but they seem to be a really poorly run and managed organization.
With prospects you have to know that most are not going to be major leaguers – much less stars.
You have to pile up the numbers, play the odds, and hope you read the tea leaves right plus that the injury gods don’t frown on you.
The organization is where it is.

Well, so far this game has perfectly mirrored the Cardinals season to this point.

Got a couple of young outfielders (one very young at 18).
You never know. You pays your money and you takes your chances.
Bloom is certainly leaving things until the last second. Hopefully with certain names off the board he can maximize the returns he gets.
