Not real thrilled about this pitching matchup but one never knows.

And the Doppler Radar shows all clear throughout the greater metropolitan St. Louis area at least for the moment.

Would have been nice to take down last night’s game but – if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

Cards may light Sanchez up – you never know what you are going to see.

Our old buddy Edmundo Sosa burned us last night. Always liked him and lobbied for him to play over Dejong when he was here, but the brass had given Paul the extended guaranteed contract and thus played him, despite a lot of poor years.

Didn’t like the deal we made for Sosa but it worked out okay as Romero was a key bullpen piece for us for several years, and helped bring in a couple of decent prospects that perhaps will help in coming seasons.

All clear in the St. Louis area.

But here in SW Indiana we are getting a downpour. A Noah type deluge at this point. It’s not rained much for the last couple of weeks so this is a good thing. It started about ten minutes before I was going to water the landscaping. Got out of that..:)

2026 is winding down. Only 43 more opportunities to complain about the lineup!😜

Wow. What a catch by Pereira! Harry Carray would have certainly awarded him a Holy Cow!

    No score after six innings.

Who is going to blink first?

    Or perhaps bling first..:)

Pallante with another excellent start. Goes 6 vs a good Phillies lineup and gives up zero. They had several singles but most got erased on twin killings.

Get Beat singles in the first run of the game.

1-0 Redbirds in the last of the 7th.

    Note:
    Get Beat = Winn

Winn definitely looks better as of late. Nice hit to drive in Walker after Walker worked his namesake and then stole a base.

Could our bullpen hold a one-run lead? Probably not. Let’s get more.

Ferguson was awful last night. He’s now dug himself a hole with two walks to start the 8th.

Can we not just bring Pallante back out? Maybe disguise him as Stanek.

    Doesn’t look like it jnevel.

Phillies have 1st and 2nd and nobody out in the top of the 8th.

    And now Harper walks.

Phils have the bases loaded and nobody out in the top of the 8th.

    Woe and despair…….

And he has walked the bases loaded. Again.

    Stanek coming in. Sigh . . .

Pallante comes back dressed as Stanek, just as I suggested. He gets the double play grounder and a fly out to hold the Phillies scoreless. Incredible.

On another thread I think someone was thinking the new FO is better at evaluating talent. Maybe, but better can still be not good.

Pereira homers to CF! What a waiver pickup! This guy has been incredible thus far – especially on D.

a-hem, or maybe better can be both not good and good.

He’s a lot better than Velasquez anyway. Velasquez was terrible in the field and typically took some bad approaches in at bats. He had power and was right handed. Pereira improves our defense. If he can hit at all as a CFer, that’s an upgrade over what we have now.

O’Brien with a quick 9th. Nice work. That was a fun win at the end. A little boring for the first 6.
