The Crew are undertaking a massive overhaul of their roster.
The #Brewers, who earned a wild-card berth, turn over 40% of their roster. https://t.co/BzSPZlRFdW

December 7, 2019 at 11:29 am #116161#Brewers have been out-bid on every one of their free agents thus far. Tells you something about what they are willing to spend this offseason. Still in need of multiple arms for starting rotation. https://t.co/fOz9z6qK1u

December 14, 2019 at 9:36 am #116784They really need pitching, but they have a history of waiting out the market.
#Brewers trying hard on Garcia, but no deal yet, sources say. https://t.co/FHiG4aeZOG

December 16, 2019 at 3:38 pm #116923Source confirms: Avisaíl García to #Brewers, two years, $20M. First reported: @JonHeyman.

December 22, 2019 at 9:28 am #117315Interesting flip-flop: Smoak goes from #Bluejays to #Brewers, Shaw goes in the opposite direction. Which lefty hitter will do better in his new locale? https://t.co/zUmZ6dUNK6

January 26, 2020 at 10:55 am #120648There were suspicions about the Brewers long before the Astros story broke. Ryan Braun, who has never been known to cheat, acknowledges that.
January 26, 2020 at 11:11 am #120652Didn’t Braun deny PED use also?
January 26, 2020 at 11:13 am #120653Hence the sarcasm. If I am the Brewers, I would select a more credible witness to deny cheating than Braun.
(Footnote: Braun was suspended from July 22 through the end of the 2013 season for excessive testosterone. After lying about it for over a year, he finally admitted using cream and lozenges after famously ruining the career of a delivery man who had the misfortune of transporting his test samples.)
January 26, 2020 at 11:27 am #12065614NyquisTParticipantWasn’t that denial quite the show. It was almost 7 years ago and Braun is now looking for some cred as an older vet. IMO there’s always going to be that press conference in my mind when I think of Braun, a guy with a great career connected to that tarnished episode. The denial was worse than the offense.
I think that MIL fans are more forgiving.
January 26, 2020 at 11:32 am #120658No doubt Brian. Braun would be the LAST guy on that roster that should be chosen as the spokesperson for ethical behavior.
January 26, 2020 at 1:45 pm #120666There were suspicions about the Brewers long before the Astros story broke. Ryan Braun, who has never been known to cheat, acknowledges that.
Lol. Gotta give him credit…he denies with the best of them.
January 29, 2020 at 4:45 pm #121005So I guess we essentially have a Phelps for Jeffress trade between the Cubs and Brewers…
Source confirms RHP David Phelps and the Brewers have a one-year deal, pending physical. Deal also includes a club option for 2021. @Ken_Rosenthal and @PJ_Mooney 1st with agreement.

February 26, 2020 at 8:47 am #123561RHP Freddy Peralta finalizing long-term extension with #Brewers, source tells The Athletic. Terms expected to be similar to deal that LH reliever Aaron Bummer recently signed twith #WhiteSox – five years, $16M, with two club options that could increase total value to $30.75M.

February 26, 2020 at 8:52 am #123562Seems early for a guy without a lot on his resumé. I guess this is the new normal though…betting conservatively.
March 3, 2020 at 6:11 pm #123967Looks like the Brewers are close to an extension with Yelich. 7 years and $190M seems pretty low for an MVP candidate.

May 22, 2020 at 3:26 pm #129136Best announcement yet includes scouts and minor league coaches…
More good news, this time from the Milwaukee Brewers: They committed to paying all baseball-ops employees below director level in full for the rest of the season and will not furlough, sources tell ESPN. Pay cuts taken by top executives and ML staff saved lower-level employees.

August 2, 2020 at 7:47 pm #134329David Stearns says Brewers bench coach Pat Murphy is currently resting comfortably in the hospital, should be released in a couple of days after suffering a heart attack Saturday during the Brewers workout. Prognosis for a recovery is good, Stearns said.

August 22, 2020 at 12:19 pm #136380The Brewers have been struggling. They don’t play the Cards until the final two weeks of the season, though…
Brock Holt has been designated for assignment, Brewers announce. Holt had made a few nice defensive plays lately, but just never got going offensively and is 3 for 30.
Jace Peterson has been selected. Peterson performed well during summer camp and can play bunch of spots.

August 31, 2020 at 3:08 pm #137864The Brewers dealt to the Phillies perhaps their best reliever not named Hader, David Phelps.
Phelps has dominated good hitters this year. His numbers versus the middle of opposing lineups (3-4-5 holes):
1 for 18 – with 14 strikeouts https://t.co/LQkrFXtYqX

September 12, 2020 at 7:39 am #139766Once we finish the Reds series this weekend, 50% of our remaining games will be vs the Brewers (10 of 20).
We currently have a one game lead over the Brewers for second in the division, to qualify for the postseason. You can’t get a better scenario than head to head competition, for determining a possible postseason birth.
September 12, 2020 at 8:08 am #13976714NyquisTParticipantOnce we finish the Reds series this weekend, 50% of our remaining games will be vs the Brewers (10 of 20).
And the other remaining games are 5 @ PIT and 3 @ KC. It appears that the 5 games @ MIL next week will depend on our starting pitching depth…. 4 of those 5 are 7 inning games. It would be great if Kim comes back strong. If so that would be a huge factor. The Brewers have never seen him pitch and that could be an advantage for the good guys.
Game Score averages:
Kim———–62
Wainwright—-59
Hudson——–56
Flaherty——55
Ponce———44I’ve lost even more faith in Martinez…. I hope he can change that.
September 12, 2020 at 8:12 am #139769jj, I agree. May the best team win. (One can also hope that Mr. Yelich’s subpar season continues, but the Cardinals seem to bring out the best in him.)
Ny, certainly the results weren’t great in his first start back, but let’s see if CMart shows improvement this time. Remember the man had to go to the hospital multiple times due to COVID.
