94. Mike O’Reilly
95. Jose Godoy
96. Brandon Riley
97. Wood Myers
98. Diego Cordero
99. Ian Oxnevad
100. Terry FullerYeah! We’re back!!! Thank you Brian!
Just to recap (I’ll save Pads the time), 71-75 vote went like this
71. Austin Warner
72. Brian Dobzanski
73. Zach Prendergast
74. Wadye Ynfante
75. Ramon Mendoza71. Jesus Cruz
72. Zach Prendergast
73. Andrew Morales – He’ll make his major league debut in 2019, so he must be a prospect.
74. Irving Lopez – I had at least 7 infielders ahead of Nick Dunn, starting with Irving, which shows how varied our opinions are. CC named 3 more. Was Lopez or Edwin Figuera at 69 and I really and truly believe Edwin doesn’t get the love he deserves.
75. Wadye Ynfante – How did he go from top prospect to a nobody from one bad season when Delvin Perez seems to get a free pass for being a steroid user and bust? Can Wadye not hit a breaking pitch or something. Someone please enlighten me on why we’ve all given up on him??? I’m as guilty as anyone.Earth to Pads. Where are you brother Pads???
Pugs, what if one of the brothers is actually a sister? Could make it awkward if we have this group hug you’re pushing for.
Brother Ny, if you want to list runner-up or top three, that’s fine with me. Some, like the breakout player and most under-rated almost require you to list multiples. Up to you dude!
Brother Pads, I didn’t mean to suggest you wouldn’t, just that you have done your service to the rest of us and we shouldn’t burden you with more. That would be presumptuous to assume you would automatically want to provide additional time and effort. But partake in more, we couldn’t do it without you.
Nyquist please explain to your wife that your vast knowledge and years of valuable experience as a Cardinal fan has made you an irreplaceable expert whose services are required to determine the ultimate answers to questions that will shape the Cardinal Nation for decades to come. My wife is still trying to figure out what the heck I’m talking about, but it’s bought me time.
NOTE: Discard the horn-rimmed glasses and pocket pen protector before addressing the wife or face her judgement that you have crossed over to the Geek side.
Josh Donaldson is a gamer and he plays hard; is very intelligent and hates to lose. I’d sign him with an incentive laden contract. If he performs, he gets paid. It’s that simple.
I would not steal your thunder Brother Nyquist. LOL! You can run the post since it was you who hit that idea out of the park. I would wait until we are done with this post though, just so people don’t forget and miss out. Plus, it stretches out our Cardinal geekdom even longer.
The following players were eligible to be voted into last year’s top 65, but weren’t. This year they developed at a high enough rate that they made this year’s top 40;
#12 – Lane Thomas
#23 – Ivan Herrera
#33 – Leandro Cedeno
#39 – Jake Walsh
#40 – Alex FagaldeOthers in the top 65 include Victor Garcia, Yariel Gonzalez, Carlos Solar, Angel Rondon & Wil Latcham. Would they all have made our top 100? I think so.
Now you’re talking CC, it might be easy for some of us to go to 100, but probably others haven’t thought that far ahead and we can’t force this on Pads to judge either. So either you or I will have to score them. It would be interesting to see who makes next years main list of prospects.
Not a bad idea at all Nyquist, however, since we are dealing with a prospect ranking theme, I would suggest we do something more like this;
1. Top rookie prospect
2. Top pitching/position/catching prospect
3. Prospect with the most potential
4. Most improved prospect in 2018
5. 2019 Breakout player
6. Surprise Prospect of the Year
7. Most under-rated ProspectI’d stay away from the negative ones like; Most Over-rated or Biggest Flop….things like that.
Hey BlackHillsCard, you and I seem to agree a lot on our picks. You must be a very astute judge of talent. LOL. just so you know, Jake Dahlberg was already selected at # 54. Keep up the great work though.
I agree CC, its’ been a lot of fun. So much so that I’d go to 100 to get all the people I ranked and that’s just because I think there’s that much potential in our system. Mostly the DSL players like Jose Godoy whose solid and a backup prospect, but also players like Adanson Cruz, Freddy (I led the entire DSL in doubles by a big margin) De Jesus, Franklin Soto, Ramon Mendoza, Freddy Pacheco, Hector Soto, Jose Moreno, Carlos Soto, Jean Selmo, Diomedes Del Rio, Emmanuel Solano & Diego Cordero to name many.
What about North American guys like Perry DellaValle and Connor Coward; Brandon Riley, Kevin Woodall, Wood Myers, Matt Pearce, Donivan Williams & Terry Fuller; Mike O’Reilly and Bryan Dobzanski. There’s potential there in them and more. People mature at different levels.
Pugsley Adams, wasn’t Carlos Soler already selected at 59?
66. Jesus Cruz
67. Zach Prendergast
68. Andrew Morales – He’ll make his major league debut in 2019, so he must be a prospect.
70. Wadye Ynfante – How did he go from top prospect to a nobody from one bad season when Delvin Perez seems to get a free pass for being a steroid user and bust? Can Wadye not hit a breaking pitch or something. Someone please enlighten me on why we’ve all given up on him??? I’m as guilty as anyone.61. Justin Toerner
62. Jesus Cruz
63. Zach Prendergast
64. Andrew Morales
65. Yuan YepezDoes anyone know who we are going to lose as minor league free agents this year?
Pads let’s go to 75 at least. Still got to get in those DSL arms.
56. Justin Toerner – Minor league marvel and 2018 draft.
57. Jesus Cruz – He just strikes people out!
58. Zach Prendergast – Independent league signing. He’s very, very good
59. Jeremy Martinez – An excellent back-up catching prospect.
60. Andrew Morales – Should get himself a 2019 callup. It’s amazing how varied our opinions are on the prospects. I had Chris Ellis rated 124th and Conor Capel 119th.
51. Justin Toerner
52. Jesus Cruz
53. Derian Gonzalez
54. Zach Prendergast
55. Jeremy MartinezStubby interviewed in Toronto today. Doh!!! I jumped the gun on that one. Best of luck to him.
Cardinals27, do you know who all our minor league free agents will be this off-season?
CC – I think you mean Bryan Dobzanski, but heck if management were available in the Rule 5 draft that would be pretty cool and Dave Dombrowski would probably get taken. Maybe John (baffle them with bull$#!t) Mozeliak would get taken by San Diego.
On the whole, there’s no one I’m really worried about losing this year other then Ryan Helsley, so the rule 5 juggling act shouldn’t be that difficult.
Doesn’t look like Stubby’s future is in Toronto. Hurray for our side!
