Just five hits and one walk over 5 2/3 innings, but charged with eight earned runs in part due to four hit batters and a wild pitch. Chasen Shreve relieved and gave up a three-run HR to his 1st batter faced. Redbirds still lead 11-9.

June 26, 2019 at 9:38 pm #95913The game got away from Cruz, as after Helsley was pulled, all three inherited runners scored as did two more. The two-run lead coming into the inning turned into a four-run deficit.
#stlcards RHP Ryan Helsley took the 8th inning in his first rehab game for Memphis and struggled. All four batters reached. 1st two walked, then an RBI double and another walk. Just 5 of 19 pitches were strikes. Jesus Cruz inherits bases loaded, no out jam with a one-run lead.

ParticipantWhy on God’s green earth is Williams Jimenez, who is now 23, back on the Gulf Coast Cardinal roster after hitting well over .300 last year? There’s nothing for him to prove at that level. He should be at State College or if not consider Ed a prospect be released. LaRoque sure doing strange things this year.
June 26, 2019 at 10:18 pm #95923Memphis pitching gave up a season high 17 runs tonight in a home loss to Nashville. This is the seventh game this month the 33-46 Redbirds yielded 10 or more runs.

June 27, 2019 at 8:08 am #95937The #stlcards system went 2-5 on Wednesday with Palm Beach and State College logging the only wins and only solid pitching. The losing squads averaged over 9 runs allowed. Player of the Day, Johnson City SP Francisco Justo, spun a one-hitter over 6 1/3 IP. https://t.co/MCat7o7PsP pic.twitter.com/96rAOsI00T

stlcard25ParticipantJusto was a guy I had my eye on from last year’s draft. The combination of strikeout stuff and maturity displayed in his story gave him a better than punchers chance to make some noise. Glad to see his good start and hope he can continue it.

ParticipantI agree on Justo. There was some buzz about him last year.

Participantstlcards- same with me. I picked him out right away also. 6’4″ 220 good size… 2nd pro season and will be 21 in Oct. I hope he makes State College in ’19.

This has been my gripe for the past 2-3 years.
