I was all on board the “trade whatever you need for Juan Soto” bandwagon last year. Now perhaps the Nats just made him untouchable, but Robles seemed to be the higher priority and Soto was hurt a lot. Obviously he’s picked up right where he left off in the minors and looks like a future good player. O’Neill and Soto may have been equivalent in value at some point. Seems like Soto could have been a part of a Rosenthal/Oh trade. Ah well.
Anyway, I’d be up for picking up Herrera, but no to Moose. He may be a *slight* upgrade over Gyorko and sure he’s a ledty, but the price wouldn’t be likely to pay dividends. Maybe if we could get him for a low end prospect, which isn’t going to happen. If Carp and Fowler get it together to career norms (which I think Carp will do, Fowler maybe less so but he will improve), then the lefty issue will go away. Even Wong was an above average bat last year. Just so happens that three of the biggest slumps this year are our three lefties.

On topic…I’m ridiculously excited to watch Reyes pitch the rest of this year.
It’s really good to see Mercado backing up his 2017 breakout with another good season at the plate this year. IMO he’s a good 4th OF type to have in the system, if there is any playing time to be had in 2018-19 there. He might have even more in the tank, and be a starting CF if the bat keeps improving to go along with his speed.
Weds in Milwaukee would be the next scheduled Gant start, and relative normal rest for Reyes, assuming he is feeling good after tomorrow’s start. But I would think he would start either the 29th to move Wacha back a day or in Gant’s place on the 30th, probably the latter?
Overslept for a 12 pm game? How much sleep do you need? My goodness, is the team just going through the motions already??

Tommy Pham in his last 10 games is 7 for 45 with 20 strikeouts and 5 walks. Need him to break out of the funk.

I’m excited to see him added to the rotation. Get Martinez back and it’s likely we have the best 1-6 in the bigs. Can’t say 1-5 because the Astros still have that covered.
It has to be embarrassing to a guy who was flat dominant in the bullpen now that long ago to be shelled every time he pitches. Maybe he needs a DL stint for “blisters” and rehab in a low level to see hitters go down, move up to Memphis for a few, and come back in mid-late June. *If* he’s even 2017 Holland, he could help the team down the stretch.
Holland gives up two hits and a walk to load the bases with no outs. Then gives up a single to salt away the game before ceding to Brebbia without getting a single out. Hope Mr Holland is saving that $14 million because he’s pitching himself right out of the majors for his next “deal.”
With the Royals having their best pitcher going tomorrow…them winning is certainly within the realm of possibility. Probably a toss up.
The Cards have had multiple base runners each of the first three innings, and the opening man on in the 4th. You simply have to score more than 1 run with that.
O’Neill starting in CF tonight. Fowler is leading off and Wong, Munoz and Pena all getting starts too. That’s… interesting.
So I see. Well, the one thing I can say that has impacted the lower levels a bit is the inability to trade off some of the dead weight the last two years. Certainly there was a mistake with Rosenthal and Oh last season. Now, maybe they tried and got nothing good for an offer but several of us were clamoring for a sell last year and it didn’t happen.
This year’s draft should produce quite a few of these top 50 guys by the end of the year.
