2-2…in a battle of the bullpens, who will blink first??May 23, 2018 at 2:33 pm #53780
Tommy Pham in his last 10 games is 7 for 45 with 20 strikeouts and 5 walks. Need him to break out of the funk.May 23, 2018 at 2:34 pm #53781RatsbuddyParticipantFree
Sure is a lot of activity on the game thread today. I assume everybody is either out mowing, trimming, weedeating like I am or else they are watching Barnaby Jones. Time to let Whitey Herdog outside for awhile and then water my new flowers in my landscaping.
2-2 in the top of the 9th.

Got caught up in conference calls and endless meeting after meeting. Wanted to punch my own head at times.
Back on topic, Tommy probably could have used another day off. He’s struggling out there.May 23, 2018 at 2:41 pm #53783
3 pitches and 2 Cardinals outs.May 23, 2018 at 2:48 pm #53784
The Royals sneak out of the ninth unscathed on the back of the guy with the 11+ ERA.May 23, 2018 at 2:51 pm #53785
So I’m not able to watch the game live. I’m watching mlb gamecast and the pitch Pena made contact with for the out was way off the pate according to gamecast. Was his at bat that awful?May 23, 2018 at 2:57 pm #53786
Et tu, Bud?? 1st and 2nd with none out. Sure seems like it’s gonna be another disappointing loss.May 23, 2018 at 2:57 pm #53787
So, Tui and Hicks pitch a combined 11 pitches…May 23, 2018 at 2:58 pm #53788
Norris appears to be done after allowing back to back singles to start the 10th. And then his error to load the bases. Matheny gonna lose this game.May 23, 2018 at 2:58 pm #53789
Bases loaded, nobody out for KC in the 10th…May 23, 2018 at 2:59 pm #53790
Norris second inning of work not going well. He compounds the situation by making an error.May 23, 2018 at 3:00 pm #53791GACardParticipantFree
We also couldn’t manage to score against a reliever who has surrendered 27 runs in 17 innings (until now), which is rather disappointing.May 23, 2018 at 3:03 pm #53792
I hate Mike Matheny. I hate him.May 23, 2018 at 3:03 pm #53793
Norris has allowed the first four batters of the inning to reach. 4-2 KCMay 23, 2018 at 3:03 pm #53794
The kill shot administered by the .164 hitter, and we have ourselves a series loss to one of the worst teams in baseball, at home, courtesy of the putrid offense and awful bullpen.May 23, 2018 at 3:05 pm #53795
Norris can’t get anyone out. 4-2 KC Cecil in. Matheny always looking for that additional inning.May 23, 2018 at 3:10 pm #53796
Well, when your first reliever only throws 4 pitches, maybe he can go an extra inning.
When your second reliever only throws 7 pitches, maybe he can go an extra inning.
But Norris clearly didn’t have it in his second inning…May 23, 2018 at 3:11 pm #53797
This team will win 95 games next year when they have a new manager.May 23, 2018 at 3:12 pm #53798
Now Cecil loads the bases…only got the second out because O’Neill threw out the runner at home…May 23, 2018 at 3:16 pm #53799
Think Wong will bunt for a single?May 23, 2018 at 3:17 pm #53800
Something I’ve already stated on this site several times…
Learning how to most advantageously manage Bud Norris' workload has been an ongoing process, for manager and closer both. Norris' ability to go multiples makes him very valuable. But how often is too often?
He's now been asked to throw 1+ IP in each of his last three outings.
