Maybe Crooks just isn’t in the Cardinals plans and the catcher of the future is Bernal sooner than later.

This could very well change if May goes on the IL.

I do. I think Doyle will be good but not as good as Hernandez.

With Mo with the Angels now what would the Cardinals need to do to bring Reid Detmers to STL where he belongs?

    Baez and Dobbins do it?

He pitched in AAA for the Blue Jays in 2023, Spent part of a year in Memphis in 2024 and only a few starts before needing TJ. We liked him enough to get him in a trade.

Saw Sem Robberse’s rehab start in Palm Beach today. He was impressive. Looking more into him do you believe the team still sees him as a prospect?

Those 3 Homers were the only 3 hits he gave up in the last 2 games. At some point they need to see what he can be in the MLB and work on command after the season.

Why don’t you think Matthews will get the call? He’s been better the last month.

How do we get a good look at young bats if they are platooned in meaningless games. No reason to pinch hit Burleson for Baker.

Rat- When you get 12 AB’s over like 2 weeks it’s hard to adjust to the pitching.

Wondering if he and Burleson are destined to be Oakland or Las Vegas A’s?

Baker now has 30 Home Runs this season in Memphis.

No one says that the DH position has to be to give position players days off in the field but not batting. If you have a DH that rakes have him do that everyday. I do think Baker is a better athlete than people give him credit for. He pitched in HS and I think even some in college before he got his left arm broke sophomore year.

Tough- That’s the tough part of developing as a Cardinal. Not many get consistent opportunities to show what they can do. Burly has done well when he’s had the opportunity. He takes good AB’s too.

Anyone else interested in signing Sonny Gray as a Free Agent this Winter? I think he would look good in a Cardinal uniform.

Another part I don’t really get. Baker isn’t like Matt Adams and drafted really late in the draft. He was drafted 75th overall and was paid 800,000 dollars to sign. At the time he had missed some of his junior year and it was likely he would have been drafted higher if not for that. Why would someone with the most HR’s in AAA over the last two years just be a fill in on a draft. I’d argue right now that Baker has a better hit tool and power right now than Jordan Walker.

Our starting rotation next year is going to be really, really bad without getting 2 or 3 solid guys in here.

Sasaki may be a better Major Leaguer in time but he’s not going to post for awhile.

Cardinals should be on Yamamoto from Japan for sure they weren’t one of the teams scouting him in Japan a few weeks ago. Would have some interest in a flier on Bauer and/or Tyler Beede from Japan as well.

Pitchers in the MLB that we should target are Nola and Gray.

If a trade happened the Dodgers would get 4 years of Arenado. Would they be willing to pay what was necessary for that? Doesn’t it start with Bobby Miller and 2 other MILB pitchers of our choice plus their Top Prospect and a lower level guy. Our haul would may probably have to be one of the biggest ever in a trade.

And sometimes a GM has to call his Star player and say we aren’t trading you. Just like they did with Ohtani.

Regarding Baker, wasn’t Matt Carpenter and Allen Craig also seen as AAAA guys? They were able to get a chance and prove themselves as Big Leaguers.

Mo has has done such a shitty job in trades recently it makes it hard for me to think Flores has been involved with it at this point.

I guess I bring this up again but do we really want to trade a great deal of players if it’s hard to trust that Mo will make good decisions on the players coming back? I may feel more confident if Flores has control of the players we get coming back in a trade.

My worry is next years rotation is actually going to be worse. Do we really trust that Mo can sign a free agent without going on the cheap? Who are the last starters he’s signed. I think it’s Leake, Matz and who else? Libertore has been not very good this year. Seems like they are depending on Hudson again for innings and hoping that Matz gets is better again?

Gscott- It really doesn’t matter if he’s having TJ if you are looking to get future upside starters instead of immediate help. That is why the Phillies may trade them. They are making a World Series push this year we get back cost controlled young talent.

How about Montgomery to the Phillies for Abel or Painter? They were said to be looking into his injury to see how it was a few weeks ago. Though honestly we screwed up by not trying to extend him after last year.
