Sanchez was a very slight tiny guy. I think eventually he hurt his shoulder and was never the same.

Bling- I think that. you are remembering what was happening with Kelly incorrectly. He didn’t hit much at first but then switched to catcher and upped his value. He hit well at Springfield and Memphis as well as becoming a Top 5 Cardinal prospect. He never stuck at the Big League level with us because Molina was our catcher. When he was traded we knew he was an outstanding and athletic catcher who was blocked in St. Louis.

I’ve looked at some of the mocks and didn’t see Ty Floyd. He almost was as impressive as his teammate Paul Skenes. Did anyone else see game 2 of the CWS this year?

Best pitcher available has gotten us Hudson, Woodford and McCrevey.

Bling- I guess a question I have for you is what starting pitchers aren’t inconsistent though?

He’s still got a ton of sink and movement. Don’t remember how hard he threw before.

They bring Libby back on 3 days rest? If you are paying Matz for the next two years might as well start him or Hudson.

It seems the Cardinals have had success with converting power arm starting prospects to relievers but not giving a full opportunity to see if they can start.

Wacha started in the MLB level as a reliever but I don’t think anyone thought he would stick there.

You have Rosenthal, Alex Reyes, Carlos Martinez, Johan Oviedo, Hicks.

We have gotten success out of each as relievers but does getting affordable in grown relievers outweigh the possibility of seeing of those arms can develop into top of the line starters instead and possibly failing.

I’d really like to keep Hicks but how much will it take? I know he had mentioned again earlier in the year being a starter and didn’t seem happy he wasn’t given a real opportunity. I’ve read that the Orioles are in need a pitching so do they have anyone we could trade for to send them Montgomery and/or Flaherty

Euro- I get where you are coming from with your statement about Skenes. Though the Dodgers mostly have picked at the bottom of the 1st round in the last decade and still develop pitching well. Also looking at our 1st round pitching draft picks they have worked to a moderate level but not met expectations.

Wasn’t one of the main complaints was that it was a second time is as many years where Mo had to trade young pitching in a knee jerk manner in response to losing a right fielder. I think it was a year earlier where Miller and Jenkins were traded for Heyward when Oscar died. We couldn’t sign Heyward long term so we then signed Ozuna for Alcantara and Gallen after not signing Stanton like we expected.

What needs to be done to improve it? I know that Strom left for Houston. He’s in Arizona now and they are playing well. Would love to have him back.

It’s honestly going to take firing Mo first. It has to be obvious at this point to DeWitt that Mo yes men don’t make good managers.

I see issues with the Cardinals develop system as well. We are doing a good job developing average or slightly above average players but not getting the most out of talented guys that may be struggling? Is it any surprise that Arozerena and Garcia break out with other teams especially Randy with Tampa’s developmental system.

I’m looking to drop Contreras and have Herrea as the catcher of the future. Any clue who else was in on Contreras last year as a FA?

Haven’t posted on here in forever. Obviously changes have to be made but personally I don’t trust Mo to be the person to do it. If they are looking to rebuild or reload why do it with the guy that got us in this mess. Short of Mo going though here is what I thin will happen.

PDJ and O’Neill get traded for a low level prospect or lottery card.

Montgomery is traded to a contender for an upper level pitching prospect. I read something about him a bit upset that the Cardinals didn’t even approach him in Spring to extend him. He doesn’t seem happy with our catcher of the future and doesn’t seem to like Mo. The Yankee’s beat writer bringing up the Contreras situation this week tells me that Montgomery is the one that spoke to him.

I’m hoping that we sign Flaherty for 1 year about 20 million. It’s in his interest to show that he’s fully back and fully healthy before looking for a multiple year deal.

If we can unload Contreras it would be wonderful but I doubt that happens.

I guess Edman or Donavan are traded to Seattle for one of they AAA pitching prospects.

Thoughts on taking a chance on Bauer or a Tyler Beede or go in on Yomamoto?

It took a picture throwing a 2 hitter. Id have to say that I was hating the move pinch hitting for Lynn but it worked out for us. With hit, walk, good play by Wong and then passed ball.

I saw Perez this spring. He had/has a real weird swing IMO. I wasn’t a big fan of them.

Bccran- The players aren’t playing well, but Matheny is repeatedly making bad game decisions and not putting players in the best position to succeed. He was hired as he was a “Leader of Men” but whatever quality he had may not be around anymore. He obviously doesn’t have the clubhouse anymore. If a manager is bottom 5 in tactics and can no longer lead the players it’s time for a chance.

We could have worked to improve this year, or improve for the future. We did neither. If they want to resign Lynn that’s one thing but if he walks and we just get a 2nd round pick that should be the last straw regarding Mo’s and his job.

This OF thing has me perplexed. I’ve liked and supported Pham for so long and I do think he’s for real. But it’s possible his eyes get worse again and he slips. Grichuk is what he is but that power is tantalizing. Fowler will do better but won’t match is year last year and could hold back other OF prospects. Piscotty has to be better than what he is this year but is he as good as he was last year? Going forward not sure who we get the most value from trading and who we want to keep.

I don’t think this is the year a marginal upgrade in the bullpen. If Lynn isn’t traded or extended then it just shows the team is ok with being an average team. We are decent team that really has no chance going against the upper tier teams in the NL as things currently are.
