Ks are not playing smart baseball. Far too many Ks on this team.
Another K leads to an ejection. By now, you think he would recognize their zone is different from his.

Ouch. Woodruff came in and threw strikes. Wish we had a reliever who would do that. Saw Hicks do that—once.
Is the season down to a triple by Yelich vs a double-play by Gyorko?
I rather like Carlos Martinez. Difficult to hit. Probably our best reliever right now. Wonder if he’ll stay there?

MartinezI wouldn’t mind trading Carpenter, Gyorko, and Ozuna for whatever trade value they have. We might get one good hitter that was dependable for the three of them, plus maybe a good backup infielder. Munoz makes too many errors.
I’d like to keep Flaherty, Poncedeleon, Gomber, Gant, Mikolas, Wacha, Hicks, and Hudson,maybe Wainwright. I wouldn’t mind trading someone for a good hitter as a part of a deal with Gyorko, Carpenter, or Ozuna and a good reliever. Probably need to keep Reyes and Martinez.
Good time for someone like O’Neill and maybe a good catching prospect and another outfielder to step up and show they want to play.
The difference: Yelich triples in three. Gyorko hits into a double play. I think the Card veterans have some inflated reputations: Gyorko, Carpenter,—-I see little in the clutch, lots of Ks.
I think the criticism of Martinez’s fielding is a bit overdone. No errors since May 28. Not great. But, Ozuna lits at twenty-five points less and misjudges popups that become doubles and can’t beging to throw well enough to be permitted to throw in the direction of the plate. He’s about the only player that I’ve seen allow two runs to score on a popout to deep short by throwing twenty-feet to the first base side of the catcher from only about 120–130 feet.
Carpenter is no great shakes on either first or third. Even Baden overruns some, but he makes up for it. I suspect that we are a year away from having replacements for Carpenter, Gyorko, and Ozuna. Martinez does give a presence at the plate, and i suspect we have just scratched the surface. Again, no errors since May 28.
Ross gave up five runs in two-thirds of an inning, allowed all inherited runners to score plus two of his own. Lucky it wasn’t worse.
As many candidates as we have on the mound, we don’t need him.
Wainwright has demonstrated that he is back, at least in two occasions.
Ross is someone that I don’t think we want on the staff if we want to win a pennant. I don’t see him anywhere useful, a journeyman at best.
Two home runs vs two strikeouts in the first. Too many Ks. Doesn’t even force the defense into making plays. Doesn’t move runners along.
Now, bottom of third. Put the bat on the ball. Just stroke it hard. I wish someone would teach Bader just to hit it anywhere and run. He can outrun the ball.
We have seen that the young pitchers can be sensational. we have also seen that they can react like rookies.
I hate walks. How many runs did they get due to walks?
The Cards don’t have the go-to hitter like Yelich or Votto. The best we have may strike out three times tonight. We are horrible at moving runners around the bases.
We have matured a bit earlier than I had thought. I didn’t think we would be in the pennant race or wild card race, the odds being that we might make it into the human race. We are doing better than I had hoped, especially with Carpenter and Wong hitting zero for April and Carpenter pretty much hitting zero for September.

If would be nice if we could complete the tradition with Bert Parks and the swimsuit contest. Nunez will have to do.
It’s interesting how opinions can be based on limited knowledge. I am not aware of all of the facts concerning Martinez’ fielding. But:

Prior to his error today, Munoz was fielding 948.I’m more inclined to playy Martinez at first and bench Carpenter. He is something like three for his last thirty-four with zero power, almost no RBIs. He isn’t the best fielding first baseman around. He and Martinez have the same fielding percentage—-but Martinez’s last error was May 28. He seems to have gained some confidence with the glove. Right now, Carpenter is a liability at bat and in the field. 149 Ks. Needs to sit down for a few games to get his groove back. He hasn’t been the same since he was hit by a pitch.
I wanted to bench Wainwright. These two starts have been very fortunate because they have come just as our rookie corps has floundered a bit. He’s earned his way back into the rotation. But, I do think 90 is enough.
Wainwright pitched well. The home plate umpire gave SF more runs than Wainwright did. Squeezed him all day. Let Rodriguez have all the corners. Needs to sit out a month.
O’Neill? Big hits may make starters.
