I had the same thought on the double switch, stlcard25. It’s a time game at the time. At some point, defense matters and you might just need Munoz’ bat as a PHer later. The move seems so Matheny-esque.
September 26, 2018 at 8:05 pm #70947
stlcard25ParticipantThis entire game feels like it was cut straight from the Matheny era. Like the team just folds when they fall behind. I really hope I’m wrong about it and it’s just a silly feeling.
September 26, 2018 at 8:06 pm #70948I think August was the silly feeling. It felt nice though
September 26, 2018 at 8:14 pm #70950Hudson with 1 2/3 innings of impressive labor. The Crew still have us nipped 2-1 as we move along to the Cardinal 7th.
September 26, 2018 at 8:21 pm #70951Yep, that August had us all fooled, GAC. When you’re seeing that torrid play for as long as the Cards were sizzling, you can’t help but think the club has figured things out and that solid, not necessarily .650 baseball, but solid play would continue. Well it has not. And for whatever reason, probably just mere coincidence, it all seemed to unravel right after giving Shildt his extension.

stlcard25ParticipantBraun misplays one, allowing Jmart to scoot into second. Make em pay, Cards.
September 26, 2018 at 8:24 pm #70953When Martinez hits the ball, the Milwaukee fielders are acting like him, too.
September 26, 2018 at 8:24 pm #70954Braun with his best Jose impersonation! And it’s Jose standing at 2nd as a result of the Braun error. One out for DeJong….who is nipped on the elbow by a Burnes pitch!
September 26, 2018 at 8:26 pm #70955
stlcard25ParticipantBurnes hits Dejong, bringing up Ozuna.
Marcel crushes one…right at the 2B for a double play lineout. Blech.
September 26, 2018 at 8:26 pm #70956NJ315
ParticipantBad base running by Martinez. This team is self-destructing.
September 26, 2018 at 8:30 pm #70957
stlcard25ParticipantAnother walk to Yelich. Another run for the Marlins coming?
September 26, 2018 at 8:31 pm #70958-Terrible baserunning
-Awful defense
-Poor clutch hitting
-Bad hitting in general
– Starting pitching with ungodly pitch efficiency
-Questionable managerial decisions
-Ineffective bullpen
-Atrocious fundamentals
Am I missing anything?
September 26, 2018 at 8:31 pm #70959Yellich walks again. Deja who?
September 26, 2018 at 8:32 pm #70960NJ315
ParticipantThey are trying something different….they walked Yelich
September 26, 2018 at 8:33 pm #70961
stlcard25ParticipantHicks gets the double play ball to clear the bases.
September 26, 2018 at 8:35 pm #70963Aguilar runs like Yadi…..maybe even slower if that’s to be believed. Could you picture those two squaring off in a 100 yard dash….you might be able to catch a quick movie in the middle of that race.
September 26, 2018 at 8:41 pm #70964I may invite some of the players to watch the wild card game with me at this point
September 26, 2018 at 8:53 pm #70966Don’t invite Jose and Munoz, GAC! They’ll spill Pepsi and fumble chips all over your carpeting…….trust me it won’t be pretty.
September 26, 2018 at 8:54 pm #70967First three up, three down inning?
September 26, 2018 at 8:59 pm #70968
stlcard25ParticipantRockies are up 2-0. Even the ESPN announcers are conceding the game to the Brewers. C’mon, Carpenter. Act like an MVP.
September 26, 2018 at 9:04 pm #70969
stlcard25ParticipantMarp battles and draws a walk. Time for Jmart to step up.
September 26, 2018 at 9:08 pm #70970
stlcard25ParticipantYou have got to be kidding. Adolis Garcia falls rounding third and is thrown out like a nincompoop. This after Moustakas throws one away. Unbelievable.
September 26, 2018 at 9:09 pm #70971Good lord. The Cards need some different players.
September 26, 2018 at 9:09 pm #70972Toss Garcia on the dfa. He sucked anyway
September 26, 2018 at 9:12 pm #70973Wow, if that does not symbolize what looks to be a late-season collapse – Garcia falling rounding third on what would have been the tying run.
