Well the ball wont get hit their way because if they throw it anywhere near the plate it’s a strike. This moron should never call another game, even little league.
September 25, 2018 at 10:01 pm #70812Shildt races out to protect Carp, who was barking at the home plate ump after being given the heave-ho. Then Shildt starts jawing at the ump with even more ferocity than Carpenter and then he’s tossed out.
September 25, 2018 at 10:03 pm #70813View of a national observer.
matt carpenter was called out on a pitch that looked about 8 feet outside, then got tossed by the umpire who made the worst strike call I've seen all year

September 25, 2018 at 10:05 pm #70814Saying JMart has no errors since May 28 in RF is like saying ” I wouldn
t have had that wreck if that other car hadnt been on the road”.Once again stats dont tell the whole truth about JMarts fielding ineptitude at 2 positions. He is poor a 1B and he is poor in RF.Just because he hasnt dropped one since May doesn`t mean he has been catching everything he should either.September 25, 2018 at 10:06 pm #70815Not sour grapes, but you’re right, GAC. I know I have never seen 2 consecutive games with such one sided calls by a home plate ump…..especially calls against the home team.
September 25, 2018 at 10:08 pm #70816I was against replacing the home plate umpire with a computer but after the last two games these guys need to find a new job. Just let the k zone determine strikes and balls
September 25, 2018 at 10:08 pm #70817DeJong K’s. Guys has to put it in play there. Gets frustrating!
Gyorko fails with the bases loaded again. Sigh!
September 25, 2018 at 10:10 pm #70818Another K leads to an ejection. By now, you think he would recognize their zone is different from his.
Come on DeJong. A single gets us to within a run. No Ks here!!!Ouch! Do I ever hate Ks. TWo Ks cost us at least one run.
September 25, 2018 at 10:13 pm #70819Watching the Brewers who went out and got good ball players is fun and frustrating all at the same time.
September 25, 2018 at 10:14 pm #70820You have worse problems than Martinez in the field. And, he has had the chances to make errors. Look at the stats on chances. Higher fielding Percentage at first than Carpenter.
Ks are not playing smart baseball. Far too many Ks on this team.
September 25, 2018 at 10:15 pm #70821Granted, Les was a hurler, but Milwaukee’s Lorenzo Cain’s batting stance sure looks like a dead ringer for ex-Tigers star, Les “Sugar” Cain, at the dish. Anyone else catch that?
September 25, 2018 at 10:19 pm #70822Mayers is quickly reminding me why I wanted him DFA’d in the offseason.
Meanwhile I’m beginning to make my initial plans for an October vacation to the Philippines as there won’t be any Cards games to watch.
September 25, 2018 at 10:20 pm #70823Mayers sets one on a tee for Braun, who parks in the OF seats. It’s midnight and the pitchers have turned into garbage. Just when I was about to say Mo gave us no reinforcements this year, I see Adams boots a fairly routine grounder, which leads to Mayers’ exit Cecil’s entry. The band plays on.
September 25, 2018 at 10:23 pm #70824If Jedd Gyorko or Jose Martinez are on the Cardinals roster next year I swear to a higher power that Mo better get fired. Gyorko single handily killed the offense tonight.
September 25, 2018 at 10:24 pm #70825Surprised the Cards didn’t want to review that Bader bang-bang play at 1st as it looked pretty darn close
September 25, 2018 at 10:28 pm #70826Be careful in the Philippines, Black Hills. I wouldn’t venture to any remote areas as they still have some real terrorist kooks roaming around over there.
September 25, 2018 at 10:30 pm #70827Hey….Big City just successfully caught a pop-up!
September 25, 2018 at 10:32 pm #70828More Ks than hits:
152-143 Carpenter
120-98 Bader
118-100 DeJong
75-52 Fowler
54-31 O’Neill
42-26 Pena
17-9 Adams
16-10 Wisdom
7-4 Kelly
6-3 A Garcia
4-2 Voit
2-0 BaronSeptember 25, 2018 at 10:33 pm #70829I would keep Brebbia. I have no idea who thinks Cecil, Myers, and Shreve are competent to pitch. Journeymen at the very most.
September 25, 2018 at 10:35 pm #70830Tell you what…..not one single one of these umps working this series would give the Cards the benefit of the doubt on any call, even if they had a gun held to their head. Now Yelich just ramrods another homer with 2 mates onboard giving him 6 rbi on this miserable evening….and that homer right there gives him the NL MVP award.
September 25, 2018 at 10:37 pm #70831So that’s what an MVP does. Delivers consistently, especially when it matters most. Yelich is having a special year. Hope he sticks it to the Dodgers or Cubs in Oct.
September 25, 2018 at 10:37 pm #70832I’ve been to the Philippines 5 times already in the past 10 years. The southern islands are the ones where you need to be extra cautious with all the terrorist groups: Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters, Abu Sayyaf, National Peoples Army, Maute Group (although basically non-existent after the Siege of Marawi City) and Ansar Khalifa Philippines.
I’ll be on the northern island of Luzon and maybe Palawan. I do have a lot of friends though in the southern islands and several are Muslim. Maybe my next trip to Philippines I can pay all of them a visit again.
September 25, 2018 at 10:38 pm #70833And to think that just a mere couple of weeks ago Matt Carpenter had his name being bandied about as a serious MVP candidate….oh how times have changed in such a short period of time!
September 25, 2018 at 10:39 pm #70834Have your friends head north, Black Hills!!
September 25, 2018 at 11:03 pm #70835Wow, how about a lefty reliever? A good one would have helped tonight. We have been fortunate and not needed one. And Cecil needs to be gone. He is a waste of a roster space. Need to prune Mayers and Cecil. Maybe Mayers you try and outright. A blind man could have seen our problems. Schreve is no answer, and I don’t care what his ERA is. My eye tells me he throws 92 tops, and really only has the splitter as an out pitch. Like Cecil it is a chase pitch. Really not sure why we didn’t add Cabrera. It couldn’t hurt. Or if you can Guilmet a chance, why not Tommy Layne?
