Waino gets pinched on strike 3, then gives up the bloop single that lets through Giants tie the game. I just turned it on, but sounds like an unbalanced strike zone today. Typical.
Good fundamental ball there, Jose moving the runner over and Dejong taking what the pitcher gives to right center to score Carpenter. 2-1 Cardinals
Longoria with the Gold Glove play at 3rd to turn two kills the Cardinal rally in the 3rd. Would have been nice to get another run or two.
Waino looking solid today. Big lift for the team if he can get you 6 innings of quality pitching in whatever starts he has left.
I don’t want to jinx it, but Wainwright back to the rotation is looking smart. I was skeptical. If he can continue begin effective, and the Cards make the playoffs, it will be so beneficial to have a vet hurler like him doing good work in October.
Waino gets the grounder to get out of it with no harm done. Now let’s see some of that famous Waino batting skill to help his own cause.
Waino looked to give it a ride but it didn’t even make it to the warning track. The low temps may have contributed.
I really didn’t want him the rotation, but what has Wainright done differently the last couple of games? Maybe changing between a harder and slower curve more? Or is his cutter helping? Maybe all of these things?
LOL, at the baseball critic who says the manager left Wainwright in too long. Maybe they need a mega computer in the dugout rather than a human manager. Waino was cruising, he deserved to stay in the game.
O’Neill will get ‘star of the game’ award. But I would be just fine giving it to CMart for ptiching around Carpenter’s error.
Wainwright pitched well. The home plate umpire gave SF more runs than Wainwright did. Squeezed him all day. Let Rodriguez have all the corners. Needs to sit out a month.
O’Neill? Big hits may make starters.
