You have to relegate his duties to solely pinch hitting the rest of the week or you make this organization look like total and unequivocal idiots!!

Totally agree Pugs. Him and Carpenter are just HUGE defensive liabilities. Its one thing to be not very good on defense but these two are PITIFUL!

Not at all. Logic is missing. For example, your discounting that someone like O’Neill would develop further and add value to the OF.

The difference: Yelich triples in three. Gyorko hits into a double play. I think the Card veterans have some inflated reputations: Gyorko, Carpenter,—-I see little in the clutch, lots of Ks.

I think the criticism of Martinez’s fielding is a bit overdone. No errors since May 28. Not great. But, Ozuna lits at twenty-five points less and misjudges popups that become doubles and can’t beging to throw well enough to be permitted to throw in the direction of the plate. He’s about the only player that I’ve seen allow two runs to score on a popout to deep short by throwing twenty-feet to the first base side of the catcher from only about 120–130 feet.

Carpenter is no great shakes on either first or third. Even Baden overruns some, but he makes up for it. I suspect that we are a year away from having replacements for Carpenter, Gyorko, and Ozuna. Martinez does give a presence at the plate, and i suspect we have just scratched the surface. Again, no errors since May 28.

I sense a family feud in the brewing by two fine gents…..back to your corners, gentlemen.

LOL, Pugs. Not at all. I like a lot of stlcard25’s thoughts, but I don’t think you can just add up WAR in this case. Sometimes a team is worth more than the sum of its parts, sometimes less. We had that conversation a couple months ago when I criticized Mo. I feel like we aren’t optimized with the architecture of our roster. I think some of the issues involve a few of the players on Rat’s list and that’s why I responded. That’s all.

Ouch. Woodruff came in and threw strikes. Wish we had a reliever who would do that. Saw Hicks do that—once.

Is the season down to a triple by Yelich vs a double-play by Gyorko?

I rather like Carlos Martinez. Difficult to hit. Probably our best reliever right now. Wonder if he’ll stay there?

I kind of want to keep:
Bader
DeJong
Wong
Molina
Martinez

I wouldn’t mind trading Carpenter, Gyorko, and Ozuna for whatever trade value they have. We might get one good hitter that was dependable for the three of them, plus maybe a good backup infielder. Munoz makes too many errors.

I’d like to keep Flaherty, Poncedeleon, Gomber, Gant, Mikolas, Wacha, Hicks, and Hudson,maybe Wainwright. I wouldn’t mind trading someone for a good hitter as a part of a deal with Gyorko, Carpenter, or Ozuna and a good reliever. Probably need to keep Reyes and Martinez.

Good time for someone like O’Neill and maybe a good catching prospect and another outfielder to step up and show they want to play.

I get that feeling that on defense ALL of these Brewers are hoping the ball is hit their way. I could be totally wrong here, but something tells me that not all of the Cardinal players have that same hunger for the ball to be hit in their direction.
