Throw in a slash of Pepsi Cola with that deep dish, 2011Seems??
It seems like were getting trounced 8-2 and yet it’s only 4-2.
Sweet! Twin killing is Weaver’s savior once again as he escapes with just the solo Frsncisco homer.
Munoz boots a Routine…with a capital “R” grounder and now the table is really set for a big Phillie inning as they have runners on 1st and 2nd with nobody out.
Right you are, stlcard25! Velasquez is a wearing down. We should be primed to get him in the 6th….but now Francisco gets his teeth into a Weaver offering and sends in deep to right….and out of here!! Back to a 2 run Phils lead with no outs here in the 5th.
He got on all right, stlcard25! And Weaver really put a charge into one, but the center fielder manages to track it down.
Wong whacks one deep to right and that baby will momentarily silence the Philly faithful….gone!
Weaver weaves a little magic here by only giving up the single tally after wearily weaving back and forth on the ropes for a couple at bats…3-1 Philadelphia moving to the 5th.
Martinez may be the worst fielding 1st baseman I’ve see since Pony league play…..and I say this in all sincerity. But what do you do with this Jekyl & Hyde?? The man is an all star offensively and defensively is down right offensive to we Cardinal fans. It’s becoming painfully apparent that all the training in the world is not going to transform him into even a slightly below average fielder . He has TREMENDOUS value as a DH….we just have to trade him.
That brief inconsequential Fowler slip out there in right on the leadoff Philly single may not seen like much…..but for me it’s yet another signal that his head is not totally in the game as it should be.
Dexter is just lost…way behind on pitches right down Broadway and watches others sail right on by that are right in there. Wonder what the opposing teams books say about Dexter this year…probably something along the lines of “whatever you do DO NOT WALK THE MAN”!!
Munoz with a 2 out base knock to right.
I’d pull the trigger in a flash on that trade, stlcard25. But you’re right….Pham does have value.
What’s happened to Hoskins this year?? When he came up last year you couldn’t get the guy out.
Herrera just untied things with a line shot into the lower bleachers in right with no mates aboard….2-1 Phils.
Couldn’t you just picture Pham in a Philly uni? He just fits….with both the uni and the city. I’ll take Cy Velasquez straight up for him….but Philly wouldn’t.
Ooops! I think my advice resulted in Euro leaving to do his errands, thus just missing the Pham homer by a scant 3 minutes….hope he’ll forgive me one day. Hopefully we have Mr. Cy Velasquez figured out now….if gives up another run, he’ll lose his new first name, Cy.
Pham smokes a drive deep to left!!! …and that baby will light up the scoreboard!!! Long long gone and we have ourselves a tie ballgame!
McCarver has never seen Game of Thrones??? Never thought I would like it either, but boy was I wrong! Same for The Crown. That English monarchy stuff has always bored the daylights out of me. But ‘The Crown’ changed that. ‘Ozarks too….only one season, but what a season it was! Back to bsseball.
Be here for the 6th, Euro.
Wow…Carpenter has to put a little more mustard on his throws.
Have the feeling you are going to leave me in a cloud of dust tonight, Euro….if it’s one thing we’ve learned around here it’s that Euro doesn’t take kindly to finishing second for very long…..I wish our Cardinals would take on that mantra….ooops…..I better not get Jags riled up again.
Cy Velasquez looking mighty tough in the early going.
There we go echoing each other again, Euro.
Young Cardinal starting pitchers lead the league in talent……but also in number of pitches per inning. Weaver holds serve with 30 in the 1st. 1-0 Phils.
Jags…..I don’t see it happening….but if I were to ever get to the point of contemplating taking a flying leap off the Golden Gate, I’m calling you first to talk me down. I never get upset with the Negative Nellies…these game threads would be that much boring without them….and without posters calling them out for it too. This is a very frustrating but fun game.
I think tieing this game up in the 9th in the fashion that it occurred, is the sole purpose of the baseball Gods dishing us out a painful dose of late inning disappointment. You just CANNOT win with your 2-3-4 hitters going a combined 0-12…..you just can’t.
