A trade I’d like to see is Jose Martinez and John Mabry to the cubs in exchange for A chicago deep dish pizza.

I know most cardinal fans wouldn’t dare say this but I will. The Cardinals really seriously need to think about slowly replacing Molina. He does not have it anymore. His arm doesn’t have the strength it once did and he no longer has the ability to call a game as he once did. Look at the numbers. Look at the era as to when Pena was catching as to when Molina is catching. I hear announcers say they’re missing their spot. Really? Funny how Wacha, Micholas, weren’t missing their spot when Pena was catching them.. even Weaver was hitting his spot with Pena. but now there missing there spot with Molina. ya. ok. Look at the bullpen era when Pena was catching that month and what it is when Molina is catching the bullpen. I am a big fan of Molina and feel he will one day be our Manager but in the mean time,Molina needs to take a young catcher under his wings and teach him all that he knows.

There should be a stat that shows a players rbi differential to his errors which lead to an opponent to score a run.If they did this, what do you think Martinez rbi differential would be?

Molina IS slipping. The 3 yr contract was a giant mistake. As for “taking a young catcher under his wings”, its more like under his foot. He hasn’t helped Kelly out fearing that CK will replace him sooner than Molina wants that to happen.

He would rather have a guy like Pena as a backup because that’s all Pena will ever be. Molina will protect himself from anyone coming close to replacing him. Now that Kelly’s future is becoming clouded because Molina decides who plays (mostly Molina) as Kelly rots at AAA, I’m almost sure that Knizner will get the same treatment.

Molina as Card’s manager? Jeez… what a disaster that would be. Let him go and manage in that World Baseball thing. He seems to relish his time there. I’m just trying to keep it real.

give away our best hitter on a team struggling to score runs that is pretty dumb idea.

His defense and our lack of offense is why he needs to go. So what if he goes 3/4 with a 3 rbi’s.That means nothing if his errors on the field lead to 2 or 3 runs for the opponent. Martinez is a good hitter and should be a dh.

Unless you find someone to replace his offensive production via trade, free agency or in the minor. You can really trade him at this point. The offense struggles already at times. His defense is a major issue. The defense with him, Munoz and Carpenter can be problematic but what can you do? He plays first which means Carpenter has to play 3rd. DeJong is out so Munoz is getting extended run. If you don’t play him you play Garcia who is likely league average at ss.

Right now you hope you have a lead and replace him in the 8th and pray the bullpen doesn’t blow it.

When DeJong comes back, they should move Carp to first because he’s better at first than 3rd due to his weak throwing arm. He can make the tough plays but he’s not able to rifle it to first… just lobs it there. That’s why it makes sense to move him to first, and put Gyroko at 3rd. This makes even more sense if we can get Machado by the trade dead line… then you could platoon Gyorko and wong at 2nd.
