I remember the trade that brought Altman to the Cardinals well. We sent Two very good pitchers (Larry Jackson and Lindy McCardinal)
to the Cubs for George and Don Cardwell. We then shipped Cardwell to the Pirates for Dick Groat. Shortstop Groat was one of the hero’s of the Cards 1964 World Series ChampsThose ahead of us but not sure of their present 40 man roster size.
