Either with the Donnie, Jojo, Noot, etc trades. The adding draft picks is very important to try and find those next middle of the order bats.
Herrera, Burly and likely JJW are great, but not 30+ HR guys, and you need one or two of those in my opinion.
Picks 13 and 32 really need to be college power hitters, “don’t draft for need” is thrown out after all of the pitching that has and likely will continue to be added.Adding a pick also increases pool money/aka flexibility, which is just as important as the pick perhaps…..
Harmony, the original Voodoo Donuts! Only good thing in Portland!! The one with Oreo crumbles is definitely in my top 3 donuts of all time.
They have to sign or trade for a corner OFer with so much uncertainty around Nootbar and Walker…. Once again, to make sure 63-70 wins is at least possible.
I loved Contreras but this was a good deal long term.
Dobbins it appears to be a little better Mikolas at $800k so that helps.
Fajardo is obviously why the Cards gave up 8M, the other minor leaguer doesn’t really excite me.
Fair deal and a win for both sides as of today.December 21, 2025 at 5:48 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #297994We never really saw the details of Pozo’s deal. And I can’t find a thing but he’s obviously on the 40 man.
So this question is related to a 137 IP/3.21 ERA guy in AAA last year. Could he be signed to a minor league deal with some sort of guarantee that he gets added to the 40 man and/or 26 man when the first player goes to the 60 day DL?
The Cards are going to need innings in 2026, and they are far from even close right now.
Harmony, I finally know how to sometimes spell Hjerpe right…. Sometimes being the key word.
Sloan is much easier than Cijntje to spell. We will take Sloan and your comp pick for Donnie and O’Brien.Deal? Call it in! (Just watched Draft Day)
Completely off topic but do you live there btw? Best open face crab cake sandwich and best biscuit breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had came from Seattle.
Future Cardinals ace Ryan Sloan was taken 55th overall though?
Between 12-100 it’s all about scouting and the draft pool funds matter as well.
Plantar fasciitis, which is what Albert suffered from is different than Noots surgery, basing that on what has been reported, what he had was different.
PF is typically from growing to fast so your ligaments don’t keep up(typically for normal humans) or not stretching enough, or overtraining, and not resting it.
Those are competitive balance pics that can be traded, I’m all for adding a bunch of those because then it expands their bonus pool, which could come in huge to add higher leverage guys in later rounds.
I don’t think picks for losing QO guys can be traded?
Jj, are you asking about comp or competitive balance picks?
NyquisT, I’m starting to get the feeling he might be Alex Reyes 2.0 unfortunately.
Depending on trade returns to add starters and the 2027 unknown situation, Hence, Hjerpe and Thompson might simply be good-great BP guys. I’m obviously not hoping for that but it’s not impossible either.
BB, this is joking obviously “But that’s having a minivan Karma coming back at you”!
I once half broke a sunroof on a Grand Prix/Grand Am as a kid, basically just splintered it like a rock would on the highway. It was a foul ball and a larger dude was in his car, wasn’t supposed to be parked there, but very hot out, running his AC I’m sure.
Lep, I’ll be 20 min east of there this week! It’ll be warmish out but probably no games…. Hah.
Should be a great early season there with RR, Clarke, etc (fingers crossed Ryan Sloan)It’ll be interesting to see where they place a guy like Denial Ortiz and Jesus Baez.
December 20, 2025 at 8:19 am in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #297916FYI, I was curious about any rules for 2027 and thought others might be as well.
MILB seasons generally proceed as scheduled during an MLB lockout because most minor league players aren’t union members covered by the MLB (CBA). The main exception is players on a Major League Baseball team’s 40-man roster, who are MLBPA members and must honor the lockout, meaning they can’t play in the minors until it ends, but other prospects and non-40-man players continue to play, often gaining more attention.
Key Points:
Union Status Matters: The distinction is between players
Non-40-Man Roster Players: Free to play, develop, and generate revenue for their teams.
40-Man Roster Players: Stuck in limbo; they can’t play in MLB or affiliated minor league games until the lockout ends.
Increased Exposure: When MLB is shut down, minor league games (especially Triple-A) often get more media coverage and fan attention, as seen in the 2022 lockout.
Development Continues: For non-40-man prospects, it’s a chance to get valuable playing time and development that might otherwise be missed.Disclaimer that this idea is for rookie leagues, PB and Peoria, not SPR and Memphis.
There are many “potential starters” in the Cards organization and likely more will be added.
Out of 5-6?rotation spots, the top 4 at each level, considered to be top prospects get their normal starts.
The other spot has 3 ”starters”, STRICTLY get 3 innings each, so they would know going in that they are “the starter”, aka innings (1-3), another in the 4th-6th and 7th-9th. Then rotate what 3 innings each week perhaps.Regardless of them having 9 pitches or 60, that way they all can warm up/prepare normally as if they were in a SP role.
They can figure out more about who is a true SP and who gets a few extra ticks and is better in shorter stints and can turn into a great RP.December 20, 2025 at 1:53 am in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #297913Just throwing this out there…. If Philly doesn’t resign Realmuto Crooks would be a great fit for them.
Very Equal WAR if averaged out projections, and 6 years of control. Gage Wood would be an ideal.
Under $800k for the same results then 5 more years of control of a catcher that has made top 100 listsKCB, in a perfect world the Cards sign 2-3 LHRP, Thompson is throwing well and is called up 7/31 or whatever the date is to take over a newly traded open spot. Not that I’m being specific or anything!
December 19, 2025 at 2:42 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #297889I listened to a Mariners podcast very recently just because it had Donovan in the title and i literally closed it, after a few minutes because it was so ridiculous.
December 19, 2025 at 2:22 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #297885Kim at $20M and Polanco at 2/40, we might all have severely underrated the value of Contreras and Donnie. As well as planning to eat most of Nado’s contract.
December 19, 2025 at 1:45 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #297882Well done C25, I love the detail and breakdown ideas.
If it is close to the same package, I’m still a big proponent of a RHSPer vs a lefty, like Sloan and any bat that is not a MIer.162 x 5 IP per start is 810, they are not close to that projection even with May. I don’t understand your comment. May could be a great trade chip or a dud… all I meant was they need two more 120-150 innings, not guys that are named Mikolas or Pallante
I’ll take May at 12.5 and his upside, especially for the current Cardinals situation and the 2026 inflated prices. Way before $10 or whatever it was for a Lynn and Gibson….
That being said, and to not rush the young fellas, two more guys that will start 20+ games and throw 100+ innings is a necessity.
Bloom isn’t blind, he knows this as well.
Bloom is not going to be the problem with the “turn around”, 1,000,000 of the blame is on De-lost-his-wallet in Ohio.
Dear Mr. Musk, please buy the Cardinals. Please. I’ll go to games again if you do……
100% agree C27, Which is exactly why I thought this thread could be a very useful thing to keep us crazy fans in the loop!
Quite honestly, we still have no idea what the heck happened with one of our top prospects, a.k.a. Tink hence last year. If he can figure that one out you’re gonna be the number one poster on this post!!
