I think we could see Winquest coming back to us. There was virtually no way he was staying with the Yankees. So I guess if no one claims him he gets returned to the Cards?

It’s nice to see we had 3 consecutive days, with 4 very good starts by our prospects. Dobbins on Tuesday, Van Dyke on Wednesday, Fitts and Franklin on Thursday.
In fact, I’m curious if Franklin and Van Dyke wouldn’t move up a level if they keep up pitching like they have.

There will be good and bad days for our prospects. Tuesday 4-0, Wednesday 1-3, and Thursday 3-1, with Springfield blowing a lead on the only loss.

I don’t understand Zimmerman starting and Rincon in middle relief. Maybe Rincon wasn’t built up enough of a pitch count to start? But shouldn’t he have been ready by now? With Henderson out until June, Dobbins rehabbing they had to know there would be need of a starter at AA & AAA. I just don’t like how the Cards seem to have preconceived notions of certain players. Rincon had a very good 2025, and should start at AAA at some point this year. Don’t just move him to the bullpen.

Isn’t there a DSL catching prospect that put up very good numbers? And we’d have to consider Crooks major league ready, with Bernal ready next year, and Rodriguez MLB ready in 2028?

Mautz and Mathew’s have control issues. Fitts and Dobbins both have shown strikeout throwing capabilities.

Van Dyke pitched very well today. He might be an under the radar prospect. Maybe an innings eater.

It’s nice to have options. Fitts and Dobbins seem more read though. Mathews has bouts of control issues.

Bedeviled had great promise. It’s too bad injuries have derailed his career. Rincon is the right call. It seems that the promotion won’t be long term. Hansen will likely be back at Memphis soon. And Zimmerman shouldn’t be blocking anyone if Rincon does well in his audition. In fact the Shuster move may be temoorary as well. This bullpen is in shambles.

I’m not in favor of Cinjtje continuing to throw both right and left handed. Maybe at the lower levels it might be okay to try it, but not when you get close to the big leagues.

It’s nice to see the full season teams playing. A lot of prospects performed well last night. If Franklin can keep this up, he could zoom up the rankings. That cutter of his, along with his high octane fastball offer much promise.

CFICT, I was wondering the same thing about Doyle. It seems odd he doesnt seem slated to pitch this weekend. Hopefully there isn’t anything physically wrong.

Rodriguez, Franklin, and Cinjtje had outstanding starts to their years.

Wow, how about Cinjtje and Franklin? It’s nice to have depth ahead, otherwise they would seem to move very fast. This year is going to be fun. Cinjtje has been very good at AA. I wasn’t in favor of this of this trade. I thought switch pitching was a gimmick. Ditch his switching, he has a power arm. Franklin has a filthy cutter, If he develops secondaries beyond the slider, he could be special.

Mathews seems to have poor control early in his outings. He needs to not nibble so much.

Ethan Young pitching for Palm Beach tonight. He had some praise and prospect ranking by out community posters. It will be interesting to see the fifth rounder pitch.

I don’t like having Yerzy and Madris playing today. Unless Bernal is banged up, he should play most every day. And Jordan needs to play ahead of these 2. Between catcher, dh and first base there isn’t enough playing time. Catcher is a tough position that needs repetitions for young players. I’d have preferred to see Crooks at Memphis and Bernal at Springfield. Unless Crooks makes the big league club, which I don’t think the FO was going to do unless an injury occurred, I would have kept Bernal at AA.

The Baseball America prospect handbook came out recently. There are a lot of pitchers in the top 30. The only thing that I noticed was a lack of top of the rotation starters among the top 30. Doyle and Clarke ae noted, but they both have reliever risk. Fajardo isn’t ranked which is a surprise, IMO. Maybe the youth of this group, and for the most part they are at class A this season explain the uncertainties. Cinjtje was not yet in Cards section of book yet.

Wetherholt has had big impact so far. Especially as a NRI. The Cards could have held him in the minors for another year. But there was an opening at second after the Donovan trade.

I forgot about Citjtje. He’s definitely in the Springfield rotation.

So given that Hansen likely will be in Memphis rotation when he returns from 7 day IL stint these are the among the Springfield starters:

    Doyle
    Lin
    Rincon
    Thompson
    Davis??

    Or Franklin?

I also liked Fajardos stuff in the breakout game. I see him at 19 starting in Peoria.

After seeing the Memphis Redbirds roster I was curious which 5 will be in the rotation. I understand that Mautz, Mathews, Fitts are among the 5, but who are the other 2? Rajcic I thought had been moved totte bullpen. I’m assuming Bedell isn’t one of the 5 as well. Does that mean Zimmerman and Shuster are being seriously considered. And did Hanson impress?

I just forgot to add Mautz. But in my personal rankings I’ve airways liked Henderson better. And I hadn’t heard anything of Hendersons lat strain, which was supposedly the mild variety. But apparently the injury may be worse.
