Mathews just cannot get his control down, let alone command. I do wonder if he’s going to have to go to the pen to get any value. It’s really crazy, given his ability at the lower levels. The AAA/MLB baseball just gives him fits.

Bum shoulder giving him fits. Mathews is going along a lot like Dakota Hudson after he hurt his shoulder.

Even before the injury, he was bad at AAA. The baseball has been mentioned. I’m sure the injury isn’t helping, but it feels like there’s something else at play. It’s a bummer because he felt like one the Cardinals stole in that draft, and would be a mid rotation guy for a while.

We do not know when the injury occurred or first started affecting him.

Ethan Young pitching for Palm Beach tonight. He had some praise and prospect ranking by out community posters. It will be interesting to see the fifth rounder pitch.

Mathews seems to have poor control early in his outings. He needs to not nibble so much.

I would not characterize what Matthews is doing as nibbling. He has lots of movement and often misses by a lot when he misses. Guys often swing at those pitches as well thus both the high strikeouts and high walks.

I’m watching Palm Beach’s first game right now. The audio has been terrible thus far but I at least get a good look at some of our new guys after their first offseason. Mejia put them up 1-0 early on a no doubt homer.

Fitts looking great tonight on the Memphis mound. Good crisp stuff. Just needs to be a touch tighter on his control and he could be very successful at the next level.

Small sample size but Blaze Jordan is off to about as good of a start as you can have. He absolutely crushed homer number 2 on the year tonight. He could fit well on the St Louis bench later in the season by giving the team a legit pinch hit option. Right now their pinch hit options are not inspiring. Crooks is also off to a red-hot start but he’s out of the game so far tonight.

I’m thrilled with the start for BJ, Baez, and Crooks. They’re where they belong right now, at aaa learning and getting daily reps.

Franklin and Cjintje with really good starts today. One of Cjintje’s walks was his only left handed appearance.

Glad to see Rainiel with a good game as well. Peoria as a whole this year seems to have the most interesting roster which is a massive change from last year. Palm Beach isn’t that interesting. A little surprised they put Mitchell in Palm Beach already.

Wow, how about Cinjtje and Franklin? It’s nice to have depth ahead, otherwise they would seem to move very fast. This year is going to be fun. Cinjtje has been very good at AA. I wasn’t in favor of this of this trade. I thought switch pitching was a gimmick. Ditch his switching, he has a power arm. Franklin has a filthy cutter, If he develops secondaries beyond the slider, he could be special.

Rodriguez, Franklin, and Cinjtje had outstanding starts to their years.

People will say we shouldnt have traded donovan but cinjtje, how do you even say that will in my opinion by himself make that trade very worthwhile. Its not the switch pitching aspect perse but guys like that tend to have an upside others might not. Its like having a really good hitting swutch hitter. You may find they are better off from one side in long run but just having that ability at some level can be a marker of really good talent.
