Cardinals drive the Royals pitcher from the game in the 2nd with 5 runs scored, including home runs by Pauly D and Hot Salsa, I mean DeJong and Carpenter
Salsa es en fuego

I think you misread gscott’s post:
He may not be an impact bat but he is the second best defensive SS on the planet.
He didn’t say who is #1, but based on previous posts, I would guess he thinks it is Simmons.
If Matheny was still here he would have looked better with these recent moves.
Matheny would still be playing JMart at 1st and letting pitchers bat one inning, only to take them out of the game the next.
Schildt’s biggest issue had been his insistence on playing Fowler, which most of us believe is a directive from the front office.
August 10, 2018 at 10:29 am in reply to: What is wrong with Dexter Fowler and what should be done? #64857Fowler could be a solid, although expensive, fourth outfielder next year.
This front office doesn’t have the intestinal fortitude to make Fowler a 4th OF. They’ve proven time and again they’d rather miss the playoffs than admit mistakes.
Why wait until the trade deadline to clear the roster of underperformers? Why keep trotting Fowler out there after the house cleaning?
Because they hate to admit they were wrong.
Talk about poor writing, the headline is about Schildt, but most of the article is about Girardi…
Shouldn’t Carpenter change his nickname to “Hot Salsa” or something?
August 8, 2018 at 10:16 pm in reply to: Carpenter Finishes With How Many Home Runs This Year? #64703I’ll take a nice even 50…
And I really, really hope the Cardinals do not even think of batting Carpenter anywhere else in the order next year besides leadoff…
Gant finished at 63 pitches through 6.
Seems like the Cardinal pitchers are being more efficient now that they have a better infield defense behind them.
August 7, 2018 at 9:18 pm in reply to: What is wrong with Dexter Fowler and what should be done? #645781 good year and 1 bad year is tough to watch
Fowler didn’t have one good year and one bad year.
He was terrible offensively and defensively the first half of last year and all of this year.
He was good offensively in the second half of last year, but still terrible defensively.
So, he did not have a good year. He did not even have a good half year. He had a good offensive performance in the second half of last year.
I don’t think you go from playing the best defense of your life to the worst defense of your life in one year if you truly care. I just don’t. Nobody falls off that big of a cliff on defense in one year.

It’s pretty pathetic that we are losing to the AAA team yet again
I thought Schildt did a good job today. The 7th inning was getting away from us, he had the quick hook and brought in the 3rd pitcher in the inning. Hicks induced a grounder to end the threat on two pitches…
Team just seems to be playing better right now…
And Norris sets them down in order! 2-1 Cardinals!!!
Still 2-1 going into the bottom of the 9th. Norris coming in
Wow, they called Carpenter out on replay
Carpenter runs this time and is called safe as pitcher’s foot comes off bag
Hicks has retired 4 batters on 10 pitches, including a strikeout.
Koela made both Gyorko and Wong look foolish
Flaherty got in a couple of jams, but got out of them
Hicks ends the threat. 2-1 after 7
3rd pitcher of the inning coming in – Hicks
Now Mayers gives up back-to-back singles. 1st & 3rd
Shreve gives up a home run in the 7th. 2-1 Cards
His ERA is 2.59 the first time through the order, maybe they use him as a middle reliever?
