The Twins won the AL WC2 with 85 wins. I don’t get BC’s obsession with the roster. Yes we needed a middle of order bat but this team was clearly still capable of winning the NL WC2 (at minimum) and as Brian stated above, this team underperformed.

Ellis – 1The Indians are up 2-1 why did they bring in short-rested Trevor Bauer? Yankees already up 2-0 in 2nd Inning. I understand using him if your down 2-1 but you’re up. I don’t get this.
How does Mr. Toothpick not use his best relievers in this game? Dusty Baker’s long history of choking makes Dr. Henry Heimlich cringe.
Please inform myself and others reasons of concern regarding Leake and the animosity in the clubhouse.
I think the problem is the team did not win and I think Matheny has soured the clubhouse with his Mathenaging style. The animosity in the clubhouse dates back before Cecil and Fowler were even Cardinals, so I don’t see the notion of “outsiders” being the problem.
I don’t know about the other posters here but BFIB really needs to be retired and its lost its meaning and it no longer serves a need. I still enjoy the “Baseball Heaven” mantra but BFIB is overused and needs to die already.
Deadspin has always ragged on the Cardinals and everything about the Cardinals including the Cardinal Way moto and the Best Fans in Baseball (that really does need to be retired).
Ortiz also named Gyorko and Cecil, not just Fowler. What I find annoying is the posters who complain the baseball writers don’t hold the team accountable and then when the writers write an article calling out players the same posters pitch a rant about how the writer is awful. I’ve been a fan of Ortiz since day one and find it refreshing to see a St. Louis writer who doesn’t always pour the Cardinal kool-aid but actually states whats going on in the organization. If you want kool-aid just listen to Al Hrabosky.
Hosmer is another 20 HR guy. I love his BA and OBP but not really the power hitter this team needs. Also, he’s only had 2 seasons hitting over .300, however many players peak about the 27-29 year age range.
CC I was having some trouble understanding your previous comment about Wisdom and the 40 man. Specifically this quote: “I have no problem with keeping Wisdom in the system. I think it would be a mistake to put him on the 40 man roster. I doubt anyone would take him if they did, I doubt he would stick, if he did, I wouldn’t be upset.”
If Matheny won a 130 games and won the world series (or how about just winning the WS) I would stop my ranting against him. But after 6 seasons as the manager he has never bothered to change his style, adapt to in-game changes, and continues to misuse his bullpen. Maybe the bullpen and pitching problems was him relying too heavily on Liliquist. Next year should determine this. What I find odd is Liliquist right now is the scapegoat when even a casual fan can look at splits and match-ups.
We definitely had the team to win the WC2 taking into account the changes. Pitching management killed us as I pointed out several times.
My problem isn’t with Pads. Its with the posters who post in other threads while dragging the voting process out. If they’re not going to vote they should announce it and if you’re going to vote why wait 3 days when you are still active in the forum posting in other threads. That’s my beef. And we all know who the voters are. Its not like we’re getting new voters in at this point in the process so if someone’s feathers got ruffled I don’t get it as all of the voters had voted. Everyone’s voted that’s going to vote.
If you’re going to vote on prospects its odd you wouldn’t take negatives about a prospect into consideration. There are a lot of votes being tallied that I don’t agree with and I don’t make it a big deal. Everyone has an opinion and its important we all take those into consideration. Its one reason we have 18 guys being voted for this round. The only time I’ve said anything is when I’ve noticed a poster vote for a prospect during one round and not vote for him the next. It was more curiosity than anything.
It is sad and apparently I’m not the only one who felt this way. In case you missed tv ratings were down and key dates didn’t sell out. What’s truly sad though is the blind Matheny kool aid drinkers.
Furthermore we’ve already changed the voting once when we went from voting one prospect at a time to grouping the votes.
When a voter goes into different threads and posts there while ignoring this thread for days, dragging out the voting it’s ridiculous. And I’ve seen a few of these voters doing it. That’s the point. How do have time to post in other threads wand not vote here for days? Saying these guys are busy is disengenurous.
