How can you not think of indulging in a bowl of Cheerios everytime you see Berrios name flash across the screen?
J.B. Woodman has gone yard as our Palm Beach affiliate is muddying up Clearwater’s aspirations for victory this evening. It’s 8-3 Good Guys in the bottom of the 3rd in beautiful Clearwater. And we’d be terribly remiss in not mentioning Peoria’s 13-1 shellacking of Dayton earlier today. Evan Guillory continues to impress on the mound and Denny Ortega launched a towering 2-run blow in the 5th to throw in his 2 cents for the drubbing.
No harm no Fowler. I can live with a lineup like this…..with just one itty bitty change. Insert Schrock into that 2 hole with Carp moving down to Wong’s #8 and have Wong ride the pines for this one.
Have to love Rat’s batting order! Your best hitter usually bats 3rd, so it amazes me that Rat didn’t ensconce himself there. But, who can argue with GScott at #3…though an argument could certainly be made for the likes of a Carioca, Cardinals2016, Euro or BlackHills too. I seriously think I could still bang out a hit in 5 abs…especially in tomorrow’s game vs Lynn. After watching Lance all of these years, I think I could get a pretty fair beed on his pitches. The 2 pitchers who I would NEVER EVER want to face would be Randy Johnson or Jeremy Affeldt (in his prime).
It’s been said that some who visit Peoria fall in love with the fair city…..and choose never to leave. What if Alex Reyes were one of these individuals. It’s a fairly true statement that “you can’t buy happiness”. This would be a heck of a way to lose your top prospect. But at the end of the day you would just have to tip your cap to him and wish him well. These things happen. As a kid, my Milwaukee Bucks had a real nice young player by the name of David Meyers. After a few years, he abruptly announced he was hanging them up….and he meant it. Having whiffed 12 batters in just 5 innings, you know Alex has got to be feeling a mile high right about now. Just to play if safe, the Cards may want to cut short Alex’s stay in Peoria.
Schrock is the rock we’ve been looking for. If we look at the complete Wong package, the best we can hope for is that of a mediocre player. Too bad because Wong could have been a dandy. What’s stopping him is anybody’s guess. But if the light hasn’t been turned on yet, it’s highly doubtful that it’s coming. Schrock can make things happen on a pretty consistent basis where Wong has only brief flashes of stellar play. I opt for the steady guy.

Without doubt we will not see another 20-20, CardsRedsox4Ever. You’re so right, Bw52, I think both Jim and Joe won in excess of 200 games apiece….yet both had older brothers with more distinguished careers. During one year, Gaylord Perry won 23 games and yet was bettered by his brother’s 24 wins.

There’s an interesting stat….the Cards are 18-6 when striking out fewer than 10 times in a game and 4-9….soon to be 4-10 when whiffing 10 or more times. Solution: Trade DeJong and problem solved…. and our Birds win it all.
