Oh lordy there’s a surprise…Dexter whiffs.
May 13, 2018 at 5:30 pm #52182Make that 10, Colhusker…..as Pham goes down on strikes to end the Cardinal 8th. Still 4-2 Pads.
May 13, 2018 at 5:37 pm #52183Richard lifted for a PH in the 8th after 102 pitches. Cards will get to try their luck against Hand again in the 9th, I assume. That didn’t go too well last night. Pads add an insurance run against Bowman to make it 5-2.
May 13, 2018 at 5:40 pm #52185There’s an interesting stat….the Cards are 18-6 when striking out fewer than 10 times in a game and 4-9….soon to be 4-10 when whiffing 10 or more times. Solution: Trade DeJong and problem solved…. and our Birds win it all.
May 13, 2018 at 5:42 pm #52186Bader with a leadoff HR.
May 13, 2018 at 5:43 pm #52187That was nice of them to replace a lefty with a lefty for Bader
May 13, 2018 at 5:43 pm #52188Bader jerks one out to right!!! I think we’ve found our new centerfielder.
May 13, 2018 at 5:45 pm #52190Martinez walks. Tying run to the plate in Ozuna.
May 13, 2018 at 5:46 pm #52191You’ve got to give this SD southpaw a hand here….as he’s yielded a homer and now a walk to start thisv9th frame….sweet!
May 13, 2018 at 5:47 pm #52192Ozuna just not delivering like we need. A week ground out brings up Gyorko. Maybe he’ll whack one.
May 13, 2018 at 5:47 pm #52193Time for Gyorko to gyerk one out of here.
May 13, 2018 at 5:50 pm #52194Hand hands out another free pass. Gyorko is the tying run on 1B.
May 13, 2018 at 5:53 pm #52195Hand with another freebie. This time with the more direct route, a HBP to put DeJong on and load the bases.
Carson Kelly up, Cards down by 2.
May 13, 2018 at 5:54 pm #52196Bases juiced with Birds with only 1 down in a 5-3 game. Enter Kid Kelly
May 13, 2018 at 5:54 pm #52197P-A, another interesting stat, according to baseball-reference Phil Niekro Was the last pitcher in the last 80 yrs to put up 20 wins and 20 losses in the same year. We’ll never see that record broken, I’m pretty sure.
Kelly up bases loaded. Here’s his chance to be a hero.
May 13, 2018 at 5:55 pm #52198Shucks! Nearly grannied that one out of here to right.
May 13, 2018 at 5:56 pm #52199Kelly down in flames. He’ll stay at 1 hit on the year. Now the final hope is Wong.
May 13, 2018 at 5:57 pm #52201Gotta hand it to Hand as he handled Kelly there. One last chance here in the person of one, Mr.Wong.
May 13, 2018 at 5:58 pm #52202Wong down in flames too. Watches three in a row. Wong really needs to wake up next time he’s standing the batter’s box. But who’s surprised, that’s Wong.
May 13, 2018 at 5:59 pm #52203How in the world do you not take the freaking bat off your shoulder Wong. Yet another player that is starting to wear thin on me.
May 13, 2018 at 5:59 pm #522043 called strikes on Wong w/bases loaded in top of the 9th. In the words of John McEnroe, “you can’t be serious!”
May 13, 2018 at 6:03 pm #52205Gayl0rd and Phil both where better than their brothers but jim perry and Joe Niekro had good careers and both won over 200 games each.
Gaylord Perry 314-265 3.11
Jim Perry 215-174 3.59Phil Niekro 318-274 3.35
Joe Niekro 221-204 3.59May 13, 2018 at 6:04 pm #52206What that awful final at-bat, the Cards lose 5-3 and split the series two games each with last-place San Diego. St. Louis falls to 22-16. Milwaukee won behind a 21-year old starter who fanned 13 in his MLB debut and have taken over first place by a half game.
May 13, 2018 at 6:04 pm #52207When does Max get the call to replace Wong? He’s not on the 40 man right? So I guess not gonna happen.
May 13, 2018 at 6:07 pm #52208Correct, Schrock not on 40 man.
