stlcard25ParticipantPham and Martinez both bailed Berrios out of batters counts by swinging at borderline pitches. Makes it look like an easy inning, but he did not have good command there.
May 15, 2018 at 7:20 pm #52491
stlcard25ParticipantFlaherty with the 97 mph heat in that first plate appearance by Mauer.
Other than that, Jack is not being too efficient. Gotta start hitting his spots.
May 15, 2018 at 7:34 pm #52494
stlcard25ParticipantIt’s early, but this one has the sinking feeling of a game where the pitcher just has the Cards’ number…once again.
May 15, 2018 at 7:35 pm #52495Cards offense in form again tonight. Six up, six down, with three batters having completely bailed out Berrios by swinging at poor pitches when ahead in the count. Flaherty need to have an efficient 2nd.
May 15, 2018 at 7:40 pm #52496Nice. Flaherty with a 10-pitch 2nd inning.
May 15, 2018 at 7:43 pm #52497Bader smokes a base hit to center to lead off the Redbird 3rd.
May 15, 2018 at 7:46 pm #52498How can you not think of indulging in a bowl of Cheerios everytime you see Berrios name flash across the screen?
May 15, 2018 at 7:48 pm #52499
stlcard25ParticipantKelly with the RBI single! 1-0 Birds
May 15, 2018 at 7:49 pm #52500Kid Kelly with a nice at bat and accompanying base hit to plate Bader….1-0 Good Guys!
May 15, 2018 at 7:49 pm #52501Kelly drives in the first run with a solid single to center, driving in Bader.
May 15, 2018 at 7:50 pm #52502Pham is slumping….he’ll fit right in with the rest of our crew.
May 15, 2018 at 7:56 pm #52503Bader is a natural defender…plain & simple! Remember that old game “Defenders”? Harrison would absolutely kick butt in it….now Flair picks off the runner at 1st!
May 15, 2018 at 7:58 pm #52504Getting the feeling that Flair is starting to settle in very nicely in this one. Should end up being a dandy of a pitched game for his 6 innings of labor.
May 15, 2018 at 7:59 pm #52505
stlcard25ParticipantNice inning for Jack. Let’s get some more runs and get the man his first win!!
May 15, 2018 at 8:00 pm #52506Twins don’t dent the scoreboard in their half of the 3rd. Still 1-0 Birds.
May 15, 2018 at 8:00 pm #52507Jack is dealing tonight!
May 15, 2018 at 8:02 pm #52508A solid effort by Flaherty, and does appear to have settled in a bit. Hope he keeps it up second time through the order. I’m not sensing a lot offense by the birds for some reason.

stlcard25ParticipantIn all the games I’ve watched this year, Ozuna has rarely looked on balance. I suppose I didn’t pay close attention when he was with the Marlins but has he always looked so off balance??
May 15, 2018 at 8:07 pm #52510As usual, your senses are as keen as a German Shepherd’s, Euro. I see Booyah and stlcard25 are in the house too….sweet!
May 15, 2018 at 8:09 pm #52511No doubt about Ozuna lacking balance. It seems like that would tend to make him a hot / cold kind of batter. Don’t know if that’s been his history. So far we’ve seen the struggling arc of that pendulum…hope it swings to the other side soon.
May 15, 2018 at 8:10 pm #52512
stlcard25ParticipantFlaherty using the curve more than I expected. It’s got decent movement but he’s struggling to command it. That 2-0 fastball to Escobar had nice movement too. Unfortunately, the next pitch was striped up the middle to put the runner on.
May 15, 2018 at 8:17 pm #52513I bet Flaherty never sees another Minor League park again….unless it’s a rehab assignment. The pitches are mounting though….63 thru 4 now as he finally puts away Kepler. Braves and cubs embroiled in a 1-1 game at Wrigley in the 5th and the Bucs are having their way with the ChiSox 6-0 in the 6th….but who doesn’t treat the White Sox rudely???
May 15, 2018 at 8:22 pm #52514
stlcard25ParticipantDejong with the walk. He’s turning into a walk machine! Ha
Now up to Bader to try to get it done.
May 15, 2018 at 8:26 pm #52515
stlcard25ParticipantKelly made decent contact there but didn’t have the juice to send it out to straight center.
Flaherty could really use a quick inning here. Would be very good to get six innings from him.

ParticipantHas there ever been a major league team half way through May with this many starters hitting below the Mendoza line? Carpenter and Wong are embarrassing to watch.
