How does Kelly NOT beat that out!!! That was his second hit on the day right there.
Gant has been respectable. 4-2 Pads moving along to the 7th. Looks like no Mercy Rule enactment today, Cardinals2016……much to the dismay of the San Diego faithful in attendance here this afternoon.
And almost on cue Ozuna bounds into a tailor made 5-4-3 twin killing to murder our threat!
Martinez smokes a base hit to center and just like that the lead has been sliced in half!
Well well well….we have ourselves a ballgame! A 1 out Bader triple puts us on the board.
Brothers for our Birds???? How could I forget them!!! The Alou Bros….sweet entry, Carioca!!! With all 3 starting in the outfield for the Giants. Talk about brotherly love!!! They should all 3 should have been with Philadelphia.
I think you have the Perry brothers mixed up, Euro. I’m almost positive it was Jim who nohit us in SF with Ray Washburn coming right back the next day and returning the favor.
I’m pretty sure I nailed Euro’s trivia question, Cardinals2016. I’d stake my left pinkie on it….not my right one though
What an era for baseball brothers it was. We had the aforementioned Niekro and Perry brothers. You also had the Aaron bros…..the Ripken brothers and father 3-way connection. I think there was more….the Bells….no I think Gus came well before his son, Buddy, who came well before his son, David.
Let’s hope SD does not have to employ the Mercy Rule, Cardinals2016! We still have hope.
Jim and Gaylord Perry, Euro. Good question!
Now Cordero uncorks a liner to left plating yet another tally making it 4-0 Bad guys. Can’t give up yet though.
And they’ve gone final at Wrigley…….5-3 Sox your happy final at that venue.
I think a few short relief stints should be in the cards for Waino before he’s flipped the ball in inning #1…..at least for awhile.
If we escape with only 2 runs being tallied, I’ll claim that as not being so bad. Have one more out to get…..get em Gant!
Phil Niekro…..there’s a name out of the past. Phil was much better than his younger brother Joe. As Gaylord was to his younger brother Jim from the same era. Welcome aboard, CardsRedSox4Ever.
Hilarious stuff, Colhusker!!!
But what is not hilarious is this bases load pickle that Waino finds himself in.
Take an act of Congress for Waino to get out of this royal mess.
Ha! No the Orioles did run amuck from the new unwritten law of ML baseball….the MR or Mercy Rule as Cardinals2016 refers to it.
Oh….by getting the scorekeeper to cheat for you by tacking on a point. You got me there, Cardinals2016……guess I was thinking it was 17-3. Thanks for the good catch, Cardinals2016.
A couple of other scores of note….the ChiSox are getting the better of their cross town rivals, as they move along to the bottom of the 8th in Wrigley in a 5-3 ballgame. And in a football score, the Orioles pasted the Rays earlier today by the score of 17-1.
Sweet! What a fantastic find, Colhusker!! 360…wow! And I bet he was in desperate need of a Tommy John surgical procedure even before he threw pitch #1 of his 360 pitch Herculean effort. They certainly don’t make them that sturdy any more….bigger yes….but not more physically sound. Thanks Colhusker!!
Gyorko keeps this up and he’ll the next guy to get on our **** list!
It takes Waino 33 pitches to successfully dispatch the Pads in the 1st. Let’s see on a pace to heave ……297 pitches if he goes the distance. Wonder what the ML record is for most pitches in a game???? Bet it’s over 200…..probably from some big horse out of the 70’s like a Bob Moose or Wade Blassingame.
Ha! And that shouldn’t surprise anyone around here….unfortunately, including myself.
Let’s see here, Cardinals2016….off the top of my head….one has to be Joey Bart. ….Bohm……and Larnach..no not Larnach…too young…..how about the 3rd being Jenista…or is he a senior.
