osuagec – Are you kidding me? Bryan Torres??? How could you vote for that old goat?
Seriously, now that you mention it, Torres looks like a shoe-in to replace Donovan in the 2026 Opening Day lineup. All he has to do is show up at spring training and prove that he is what his stats say he is. Hope he doesn’t crack under the pressure.
Denkinger retired after that season and commented that his blown call helped him get booked on the offseason speaking circuit.
Hated to see the game taken away from the Cardinals by a crooked umpire. Glad that George Brett got a ring.

Saggese could handle 2B as well as Gorman and with a lot less strikeouts. $5.4 M seems almost cheap to me which raises his trade value.
November 12, 2025 at 9:16 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #295780If the Cardinals trade both Arenado and Donovan, then they must be thinking that Wetherholt is ready to take over third base.
November 12, 2025 at 8:49 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #295778Bernal and Baez haven’t hit above AA yet
I’m thinking that since Bernal has had steady, almost predictable improvement over his years with the Cardinals, there’s a very good chance that his progress through the system will continue. Baez’ showing in 2025 was like a gift from out of the blue. If he can do it again in 2026, that will be two years in a row that he has impressed, and he could very possibly rank in the top 2 or 3 of TCN community ranking next year. I’m guessing that neither of them will make it to St. Louis in 2026 because of the CBA uncertainty of 2027. Bernal is only 21 years old and Josh Baez is only 22 years old.
November 12, 2025 at 5:31 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #295767Leo Bernal as a switch hitter had a line of
.307/.360/.488/.848 in 2025.Joshua Baez had a line of .271/.374/.509/.883 as a RH batter in 2025.
Ivan Herrera had a line of .284/.373/.464/.837 as a 24-25 year old batting RH in 2025. I’d like to see him as a starter at 1B because I get the feeling that Contreras has lost much of his competitive edge although his veteran presence does have value overall.
RH batting Winn should be considerably improved as a batter after his surgery and rehab during the offseason plus the improvement that experience usually brings.
I am looking forward to Bernal And Josh Baez arriving at MLB. Hopefully, they both meet expectations.
And the still somewhat unknown but highly regarded, and possible future third baseman, Jesus Baez bats RH.

I know Tommy Edman has had some heroics in his career. But here’s his slash line for 2025….
.225/.274/.382/.655(Just messing with you, GC.)
Also, most boys are still growing at 16 years of age. Dos Santos may very well hit 180-200 lbs by the time he matures as a young adult. What happens after the ‘young adult’ stage is anybody’s guess.
I suggested that they give Curtis Taylor a chance a couple of weeks ago. I was disappointed that they chose not to. All you can do when something like this happens is trust the coaches and talent evaluators
Burly has gotten better as he has gotten the reps. His defense seemed improved
Agree. But I want to acknowledge that there are some posters who say that Burleson can’t play defense anywhere on the field. So be it.
I’d be fine with Burleson in LF, and Herrera at 1B for as long as it makes sense. That is to say, until either a better option forces his way onto the scene, or until Burleson and/or Herrera get too pricey.
I don’t know if I want to rank him yet. But if Gurevitch can be in the discusion based on his college stats. then why shouldn’t Dutkanych be in the discussion based on his college stats?
21 – Luis Gastelum Reliever of the year. Nice looking pitching line.
22 – Darlin Saladin Mostly because he has at least shown something, that is to say, he’s been killin’ it in the AFL this year with a .82 ERA, a 1.182 WHIP, and no HR’s allowed, even though his BB9 is sitting at 5.7. Also, Brian and Kyle raved about him in the last Wednesday with Walton and Reis discussion. For me, that countsI’ve cooled on Blaze Jordan. To me, he’s looking like a ‘1B only guy’ that doesn’t hit for enough power.
I’ve been pulling for Matt Koperniak and Bryan Torres since the Cardinals acquired them. Torres was added to the 40 man roster recently which indicates, for now at least, that they think he might be helpful. The trouble is that he’s 28 years old and turns 29 next July 2 which suggests that they’re looking at him as an ‘if needed’ guy. He could be very helpful in that role. I’d like to see Koperniak get some MLB AB’s. But he just doesn’t line up well with his competition to project a spot for him long term. Both players bat left-handed.
If I recall correctly, BA has a tradition of ranking a speculative prospect just for the heck of it. I guess it’s a way of stirring things up.
I completely agree that Padilla has next to nothing to support his high ranking other than BA’s comment ‘after discussions with plenty of scouts’. It’s almost seems like a practical joke.
Tanner Franklin does have some credentials including a 70 grade FB and a hard cutter according to MLB. He was one of our 2nd round draft picks. His biggest problem was his control. There is potential with Franklin. Whether, or not, he realizes his potential is to be determined.
I think BA has undermined their own credibility with this ridiculous ranking. After seeing this, I wouldn’t quote them on anything, and wouldn’t trust anything they say.
Thanks. No confusion here. I got it.
19. Church
20. GastelumPreviously released: LHP Zack Thompson, LHP
Now I’m confused, again. Is Zack Thompson gone, or has he not been reinstated by MLB to the Cardinals because of the technicality that he was injured throughout all of 2025? If he has been released and then reinstated, then I will assume that he is on Memphis’ roster although he is not presently listed there.
Personally, I can’t wait for a chance to vote for Andrew Dutkanych IV. His improvement after his surgery puts him in the top 50, or at least close to the top 50, for sure.
I said that, facetiously, back on Nov. 6. But, bolstered by the preceding comment by Gags, and after thinking about it a bit, why couldn’t a reportedly healthy Dutkanych receive votes now based on scouting reports and his college resume. After all, we just ranked Mitchell based on his assumed good health and high school resume?
have an $85 Million guy at DH/1B where we already have min wage guys who can do that.
Totally agree.
I’ve commented before that I would like to see Herrera at 1B. But I’d be okay with Burleson there.
The trouble with trading Contreras is that he is going to want more years if he is traded. Time and time again, the Cardinals, and many other teams, find themselves ‘over a barrel’ because of that NTC. I wish they would address that in the next CBA along with many other things. Speaking of the next CBA, I am really skeptical about whether the 2027 season even gets played. In looking at the chaos in the world around us, it’s difficult to imagine the negotiations not turning into a fist fight, if not an all out war.
Shouldn’t O’Brien and Svanson be high on the list of top relievers? Just wondering if I’m missing something.
Love the intensity here. One poster complaining that Tanner Franklin is getting too much love, and another poster complaining that Nathan Church is not getting enough love. Personally, I can’t wait for a chance to vote for Andrew Dutkanych IV. His improvement after his surgery puts him in the top 50, or at least close to the top 50, for sure.
November 6, 2025 at 3:32 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2024-2026 #295467Just want to say that if Walker and Hence and Gorman and Hjerpe had turned out as expected, we would be looking at more of a ‘reset’ rather than a full on rebuild.
As far as I can tell. the next up position players are Ryan Mitchell, Nathan Church and Blaze Jordan, who has been sort of invisible for some reason. Based on his scouting grades, I think Mitchell has the highest potential. Nathan Church is the surest bet to get some MLB AB’s in 2026, although I don’t seem him getting much traction at the MLB level. Blaze Jordan has OPS’d over .800 for most of his career, and in fact, he was OPS’ing .928 for AA Portland before the Cardinals acquired him from Boston, and he’s now at Memphis at age 22.
Based on Brian’s and Kyle’s reporting and commenting on this weeks Wednesday With Walton and Reis, plus his AFL Fall Star award, Darlin Saladin comes to mind. So for me, it’s between Saladin and Braden Davis here.
17. – Ryan Mitchell
Future star, or not? Lots of promise based on early data.
18. – Braden Davis
Based on Bod Reed’s comment and a review of Davis’ stats for 2025. Also, appears to have starter potential. If Siani is left unprotected, I could see another team picking him up and I could see Siani winning the starting CF job at their spring training. Scott is going to get better and better defensively. But for the time being I think Sinai is better defensively.
From what I saw of Siani, I think he is the best defensive centerfielder in the entire organization. His hitting isn’t great, but it’s not bad enough to not protect him. He made some true highlight reel plays when he was up.
It’s going to interesting to compare Brian and Blake’s assessment of players in the TCN 2025 Prospect Guide to Brian and Kyle’s assessments of the same players in the TCN 2026 Prospect Guide.
