I could see them trading Romero and Donovan for pitching from the Mariners. But it had better be a big return. It’s going to be a long summer if they trade Romero. He’s the best bullpen pitcher we have right now. A smart move for the Mariners if, as reported, they are also looking for a third baseman, would be to figure out how to include Arenado in the deal. I’d hate to see Nado go. But I’d be happy to see him get a ring. With a newly found optimism, I bet Arenado’s offense would return.

I like CFICTs trade targets. We might have to give a little note though. But the trades are in the ballpark m

A cheap innings eater like Aaron Civale might be good until the young pitchers are ready.

I would just expect some low hanging fruit types this spring to fill holes in the roster.

Also, do you think they prefer to add a new starter via trade/signing instead of calling up Hence, Matthews or Roby?

Yes, I think they will get at least one starter in free agency.

I am hoping with their trades, they will be maximizing return rather than focusing on major-league ready.

None of the three of Hence, Mathews and Roby are MLB ready. Bloom has said they are not going to rush guys. They will get some short-term SP help from the outside.

What’s everyone think about signing zach Efflin to a 2-3 yr contract for 17 mil per year. Some experience with some upside left in him.

Jackbigs, I’m not saying he’d be a bad signing but absolutely no on that dollar amount. $17M for all 3 years maybe?

The focus from the organization is obviously and VERY clearly stated that the goal is to add arms, but every team that’s ever won a Championship has had at a minimum 3-4 MOTO bats, not every team can have Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, Will Smith, Muncy and Andy Pages.

JJ is a 1 or 2, Burly is two spots below JJ with Herrera in the middle (ideally based on what they have now). Josh Báez could turn into a 5-6 (perfect world of course), RR could turn into a beast at 3-4, Bernal a good 6-7.

BUT if…. If’s and buts were candy and nuts we’d all have a Merry Christmas!

My point is if Donnie, Willie C, Noot, Nado, Jojo etc could bring back a few bat with power potential I’m 1,000% all for it. Especially over another LHP prospect.

    Cards667, I don’t even see Dewallet agreeing to a lineup that horrible…..

3 terrible, not even decent hitting OFers? And your #5 hitter hit .205 last year?

Church and Crooks are beyond redundant if VSII and Herrera are here and healthy. Their value might not be overly great, but as a package they could surely get something for needy teams without a Dodger/Met level payroll.

CFICT, if they were to move all those players, how far out is Blaze Jordan from being in the RH 1B/DH mix? Half of 2026 or so?

Blaze Jordan wasn’t even protected from the Rule 5 draft. He could potentially be gone by end of business on Wednesday.

O my. Well, I’ll take the flip side. Outlandish can happen, but it needs a runway.

DO NOT TRADE DONNIE OR JOJO.

GameCard is going to be a Cubs fan by February if he is putting that in all caps! The smart thing to do is move on, they clearly aren’t trying to win 90 in 2026, or even 81 or 70 for that matter.

I saw where Noah Cameron (SIX years of control) was mentioned as a potential piece for Donnie. I said I was against anymore more LHSP’s, but 6 years of control, MLB proven, sign me up….

Donnie, Jojo and Crooks? Or what else to get him?

Younger and cheaper. 29 year old guys out, 22-25 year old guys in. Keep your chin up GC.

Jj-cf, I’m throwing a need a trade idea at you this time. Let’s play a game called Fill in the blank!

Cards get Noah Cameron and _________
Royals get Donnie, Church, Jojo and ________ and ______

I keep throwing Church in deals because I feel like he and crooks have no future given the redundancy and getting maximum value NOW. Being realistic we need to be looking at trying to be a 90 win team in 2028 and they don’t fit.

That looks sideways for KC, trading pitching for lineup help, plus they spend ~10mil of their offseason funds, ICT. We would have to send more in talent.

I’d target whoever is behind Cameron, and get two. Look for an Alacantra / Gallen return. Take a reliever / bench salary back to help push the trade thru.

Or, is there no prize arms behind Cameron? I don’t know KC that deep.

JJ, I would prefer them to get high quality over quantity with Donnie. The 6 years of control is huge and 100 times better than two “top prospects” that are unproven.

That would be awesome, but “fill in the blanks” will be costly to get to Cameron’s level. Donny, JoJo and keep adding talent, not filler.

If I was aiming for a Gallen type in the KC system, their #6 David Shields holds some intrigue for me. A Liberatore type without a great fastball but the breaking stuff works. He performed very well in A ball at 18 this year and maybe the Cards could help him refine a better fastball. Kendry Chourio would be a high upside bet who led their minors in K-BB% (walked 5 batters in 51ish innings) and just turned 18 while getting a cup of tea at low A.

But overall, KC’s system doesn’t match up great with what we are after. They’ve got a lot of catchers and guys who remind me of our old guard in the upper minors and MLB (such as Cameron, in fact).

    Donnie, Jojo, Mathews and Church?

** Full disclosure I listened to WAY to many podcasts last night

I would not give up Mathews and JoJo for Cameron, let alone add Donovan. The peripherals scream flash in the pan to me.

I doubt KC would trade Cameron for a year of JoJo and two of Donovan. They could probably get a decent controllable MOTO bat for him from somebody.
