The @Sgf_Cardinals have now recorded three walk-off wins in four days, completing the four-game sweep of NW Arkansas today. That comes after starting the season off 0-7 on the road.
Irving Lopez collected two walk-off homers this weekend.

Can’t recall a worse stretch of pitching for Springfield in my time covering the club. However, the offense bails out Elledge with a five-run eighth. The S-Cards are now up 11-7 going into the ninth.

Good time for both Montero and Mendoza to get some work at first base as the former seems more likely to end up there long-term.
On a positive note, Carlson collected two more doubles today. He is hitting .400 (6-for-15) over his first four games at Double-A and he is also seeing some time in center field.
I believe they just announced the top 10 on Jan. 1. BA made the top 30 available online for the first time today.

Velocity was there for Cabrera, but he had trouble throwing strikes too. Hit 97 mph, according to Kyle Glaser of BA. A combined eight walks for Poncedeleon, Gant and Cabrera over 3 1/3 innings today.
Why the rush to add him to a full 40-man roster? Particularly, one that includes Urias and Sosa already, who are both likely to open 2019 at Memphis with Edman. It is especially redundant since they acquired the left-handed bat in Robinson.
In comparison to other publications, we were pretty conservative with our ranking of Torres. Fangraphs ranked him at No. 6 in their Cardinals top 40 last month. BA, who has yet to release their Top 10 for St. Louis, but ranked him No. 2 in the Arizona League and No. 6 in the GCL.
One reader posed the same question in Brian’s write up to Ben Badger in the GCL chat. Why did the Indians trade him?
Here’s what Badler said: The Indians had good reports on Mercado, who’s close to MLB-ready, while Torres was still in his first year of U.S. rookie ball. Torres is still 3-plus years away from contributing, and probably more than that, but the reports from pro scouts who saw him this year in both leagues were pretty dynamite.
For the record, Urias is not 150 pounds. That was his weight when he first signed many years ago with the Rangers. If I had to estimate, he’s probably somewhere in the 170-180 range. Built similar to Edman in comparison.

As for Pinder, I thought he did well considering he spent the vast majority of 2018 in the FSL coming off the jump from the Appy League. I expect him to start at Springfield next year, so his offensive production should definitely have an uptick. He is a fourth to fifth outfielder at best.
I will say Machado and Hurst being left-handed swingers could help their case in a right-handed heavy organization. Also don’t forget about Capel.
Velocity wasn’t a question last night. He did look a stiff in his mechanics and there are mixed reports on his injury. Wacha told the media in Springfield he left due to muscle tightness while the Cardinals say it was fatigue.
