Peoria at Kane County – Jacob SchlesenerApril 12, 2019 at 5:28 pm #87082Based on the weather forecasts, both Springfield and Peoria (road) are changing game times tomorrow, Saturday. If you have tickets, check the team’s site for details.
April 12, 2019 at 7:36 pm #87097Just saw in the game day app that Schlesener only went 0.2 innings. Threw 35 pitches gave up 2 hits and issued 2 walks while striking out 1. Gave up 3 runs, 2 earned. Casadilla in the game now and Peoria down 0-4 in bottom 3rd. Peoria defense with 3 errors so far.
April 12, 2019 at 8:16 pm #87100Palm Beach wins 6-2 behind a strong start by Perry DellaValle and relief efforts of Ronnie Williams and Bryan Dobzanski.

April 12, 2019 at 9:46 pm #87104Seth Elledge blows a 3 run lead for Springfield in the top of the 8th. Not only does he blow the lead he puts Springfield in the hole.
April 12, 2019 at 10:05 pm #87105Can’t recall a worse stretch of pitching for Springfield in my time covering the club. However, the offense bails out Elledge with a five-run eighth. The S-Cards are now up 11-7 going into the ninth.
April 13, 2019 at 1:28 am #87106Just to quickly “shore” up on Derek’s report, our pitching deprived Springfield affiliate does indeed hang on for the 11-7 triumph. Elledge notches the win, while also accruing a blown save to his 2019 dossier. O’Keefe slammed his 2nd round tripper with Montero and Godoy going yard for the first time on the young season. Elk Grove, California native, Dylan Carlson, chipped in with a couple hits raising his batting average to a very lofty .371. 3,926 hardy Hammons Field fans witnessed tonight’s fun and these two teams will be right back at it early Saturday afternoon with Jake Kalish dealing for the Naturals vs a yet to be determined starter for the Cardinals.
April 13, 2019 at 7:29 am #87107Wonder if any Springfield fans who have been to one of the first two games can give a report on the parking lot situation – mainly has it been heavily used or are there lots of open spaces. This may indicate how the fans are accepting the gouging prices put in place this season. I watched the opener on TV and while there was a good initial crowd it thinned out fast after about the 6th inning. I guess the dropping temps contributed to that as well as it being a school night. From what I read here and see on TV, Springfield is definitely in need of pitching. Would love to see Nolan Gorman advanced to AA early this season.
I see that Luke Gregerson has been sent to Springfield for a rehab assignment. If he pitches tonight he may be facing some weather problems.
April 13, 2019 at 8:16 am #87110The #stlcards system was 2-2 on Friday. Our Player of the Day is Springfield first baseman Evan Mendoza, who drove in three during his 2-for-4 night. Palm Beach also won to improve to 7-2. Free game recaps each morning all season at The Cardinal Nation. https://t.co/q4rHv6vLKL pic.twitter.com/nSUAQ7M8AW

April 13, 2019 at 11:24 am #87128Ronnie Williams might be an interesting name given all of the struggles of so many relievers in our minors so far. Springfield and Memphis seem possible destinations. Very live arm, and low mileage due to injuries.
