Luke Weaver (7-1, 2.05) vs. Jon Lester (11-8, 4.56) 7:15 p.m. FOX Sports Midwest, MLB Network
September 24, 2017 at 8:27 pm #34039On a somber note, the Cubs will clinch in St. Louis.
Just wondering, have the Cardinals ever clinched at Wrigley?

September 25, 2017 at 9:36 am #34076So the Cubs can clinch the division in St. Louis and knock us out of wild card contention at the same time? Wow, what a crappy week this will be.
On the other hand, if we sweep them and somehow win the wild card how sweet will it be.

Weaver PSeptember 25, 2017 at 3:45 pm #34138Boy, that is a weak line-up. It’s amazing we are as close as we are.
September 25, 2017 at 3:53 pm #34142I don’t get what you are seeing new. All eight position players in tonight’s lineup lead the team in starts at their respective positions this year. They are playing the vets in the big game.
September 25, 2017 at 5:57 pm #34147Yeah i don’t get it either prob one of the best lineups we could put out there?
September 25, 2017 at 6:17 pm #34148Its a weak lineup because half of them are having bad years. Once they rebound somewhat next year, along with Stanton in the middle of the lineup, we should be in high cotton.

ParticipantWeaver is getting pounded. But Piscotty took a bad route on Russell’s base clearing double.

Participant4-0 Cubs
September 25, 2017 at 7:41 pm #34156Waiting for the bottom to drop on Weaver for about 2 starts.
I think Rats is also hinting at that we need a MOTO bat in the lineup and changes need to be made.
September 25, 2017 at 7:49 pm #34157NJ315
Participant5-0
September 25, 2017 at 7:56 pm #34158NJ315
ParticipantAfter Russell spilled a guy’s nachos on the field attempting to catch Gyorko’s foul ball he then homers. 5-1
September 25, 2017 at 8:03 pm #34159Well, we already know we have poor defense, poor situational hitting, poor base running, and an abysmal bullpen. Then give up 4 runs in the 1st, and prospects for winning this one are extremely low. Cubs will be celebrating on our turf. Next year seems like a loooong way off.
September 25, 2017 at 8:10 pm #34160NJ315
Participant8-1
September 25, 2017 at 8:15 pm #34161NJ315
ParticipantGood for Russell. New nachos and a picture for the fan.
September 25, 2017 at 8:17 pm #34162Why no intentional walk with 2 outs and the pitcher up next? Baez vs Lester, I’ll take Lester. That’s the manager’s call, and he made the wrong one there.
September 25, 2017 at 8:23 pm #34163NJ315
ParticipantCould be argued Weaver had no business being in the game at that point.
September 25, 2017 at 8:34 pm #34164Doesn’t Lester have a couple hits against us?
I’m glad Molina had a day and a half worth of rest for this pivotal game.
September 25, 2017 at 8:47 pm #34166NJ315
ParticipantGrichuk gave it a ride but came up short. Still 8-1
September 25, 2017 at 8:48 pm #34167Matheny has a bad problem of leaving starters in games too long. VEB did a analysis of this just a week ago. Looks like Cubs will be breaking out the champagne tonight.
September 25, 2017 at 9:04 pm #34168They can’t clinch tonight. They just eliminate us.
September 25, 2017 at 9:33 pm #34171On a good note, Colorado trails Miami 4-0 in the 5th.
But time is running out……….
September 25, 2017 at 10:06 pm #34172Tonight has been a microcosm of the year, close and need a win and lay a turd.
