ParticipantSorry to say, but Leake was a bad signing from the get go.
He didn’t fit here on several levels. Mo should have know this.bccran
ParticipantWhen did Knizner play 3B? He was listed as a catcher when he was drafted out of NC State. Did he also play some 3B there?

ParticipantDeJong is probably more of a reality than a possibility.
bccran
ParticipantVery scary. Especially if you’ve
ever pitched.bccran
ParticipantThey could have called up Diaz, Valera, Mejia, or Wisdom instead of Voit. Why didn’t they?
bccran
ParticipantLooks like the low prospect ranked one position pony has 4 RBIs tonight to help the Cards get off to a good start on this road trip.
Maybe the Cards knew something when they moved Carp to 3B to make room for him.bccran
ParticipantDoubt it.

ParticipantHow does his defense compare to Kelly’s?
bccran
ParticipantKelly has won the Gold Glove for the best defensive catcher in all the minors. He’s special defensively. And he has as pretty high ceiling offensively too. Was drafted as a power hitting third baseman.

ParticipantCC – it has become a lot more challenging for me with all the guys coming up from the Academies through the DSL. Plus a few free agent signings. Need to do some homework once I do the annual end of season stats for all players (on a spreadsheet – old fashioned). I don’t know a number of players in the GCL and at Johnson City and State College. Used to know almost everyone on those rosters in years past.

ParticipantMy player of the day yesterday (FWIW) was Brandon Benson. 4 out of 4 with 3 RBIs. Dark horse, but had eye popping numbers at Geo. St. before being drafted –
210 ABs
22 HRs
78 RBIs
.395 BAbccran
ParticipantWas referring mainly to the 2 primarily relieve pitchers starting at Memphis and Springfield. Unusual.

ParticipantGood news about his defense.
bccran
ParticipantQuite a lineup of pitchers.
bccran
ParticipantThe frustrating thing is that they strike out against guys who aren’t known as strike out pitchers.
bccran
ParticipantHe’s close to running out his string here.

ParticipantWhat’s the matter with Piscotty?
Is it physical, mental, or emotional?bccran
ParticipantOne position pony called up?
Must like his bat. They may even think he could be a big bat??bccran
ParticipantJust curious. Is there anyone on the JC team that potentially brings more to the table on a positional basis than O’Neill, Bader, Sierra, A. Garcia, Arozarena,
Alvarez, Edman, Sosa, Robertson, Knizner, etc. Anyone who can bypass any of the above? Anyone who has any obvious major league impact potential some day? Maybe a Big Bat if they develop? Thanks very much for your input.bccran
ParticipantAs Brian has said, we need impact (“big”) bats. That requires some prospects who are really outstanding. Is Pinder a better prospect than Bader, Sierra, A.Garcia, Arozarena, etc? If not, he’s totally blocked. Knizner may qualify if he can match Kelly defensively. Can he do that?
bccran
ParticipantCan Knizner and Pinder be true contributors some day at the major league level, when what we really need are middle of the order bats – or two or three? Or are they just average guys like many others in the system?

ParticipantDoes anyone know if Oviedo’s velocity is returning to the high
90s? Someone said it was down this year.bccran
ParticipantLuke 3 out of 5 with a homer last night. Tearing it up since being sent down.
Mayers with 2 shutout innings and 4 Ks. Why doesn’t it transfer?

ParticipantIf Gyorko is out, will it be Wisdom?

ParticipantThis Snell is a really good pitcher. What’s his record again?
