Carlos Martínez (10-9, 3.48) vs. RHP Matt Garza (6-7, 4.67) 6:40 pm FOX Sports Midwest
Note: Changed to Luke Weaver (2-1, 2.31)
August 27, 2017 at 7:06 pm #31794Are they skipping Weaver this series?
August 27, 2017 at 7:40 pm #31796From Brewers beat writer Tom Haudricourt:
“Cardinals have updated their starting pitchers for upcoming #Brewers series at Miller Park to Luke Weaver and Carlos Martinez.”
August 29, 2017 at 6:27 pm #31873Matt Carpenter donating $10,000 for every home run he hits to the Houston relief effort. Waino and Cards org weighing in too. Good on them!
August 29, 2017 at 7:00 pm #31876Our starting RF in 2018 just hit #51 tonight in Washington.

ParticipantDoubt it.
August 29, 2017 at 8:07 pm #31880Doesn’t hurt as bad up 5-1 but more poor baserunning
August 29, 2017 at 8:09 pm #31881Yep, when they’re struggling to get anyone out, you hate to give them one with the middle of the order up.
August 29, 2017 at 8:10 pm #31882Would have just walked a run in
August 29, 2017 at 8:30 pm #31887Top of the 5th, Cards up 7-1…
August 29, 2017 at 8:32 pm #31888Wasn’t Leake suppose to start tonight? Glad it’s Weaver as he is dealing tonight
August 29, 2017 at 8:42 pm #31889Carpenter a dinger, now 9-1 Redbirds.
Can the bullpen hold this one???
August 29, 2017 at 8:48 pm #31891Carpenter’s dinger bring $30K to flood relief
August 29, 2017 at 8:50 pm #31892Weaver with 10th K
August 29, 2017 at 8:51 pm #31893colhusker, Leake started on Saturday, so two more games until his turn comes up again.
August 29, 2017 at 8:54 pm #31894Thanks Brian, forgot he started then, thought I saw he was going tonight.
August 29, 2017 at 9:02 pm #31895bccran
ParticipantLooks like the low prospect ranked one position pony has 4 RBIs tonight to help the Cards get off to a good start on this road trip.
Maybe the Cards knew something when they moved Carp to 3B to make room for him.August 29, 2017 at 9:05 pm #31896Ratsbuddy
Carpenter a dinger, now 9-1 Redbirds. Can the bullpen hold this one???
My first thought was Weaver don’t need no stinking bullpen. After checking though, he’s been great tonight, but not efficient — currently over 90 pitches after 5 innings. But I’ll go out on a limb and say were okay since there will be no temptation to let Mayers get hammered for almost a full run through their lineup.
August 29, 2017 at 9:09 pm #31897I wouldn’t give the Cards any more credit for “knowing” something other than they know their hand is forced to cover Gyorko’s loss for a couple weeks.
August 29, 2017 at 9:12 pm #31898Nice to see Kelly’s contributions tonight.
August 29, 2017 at 9:17 pm #31899bccran
ParticipantThey could have called up Diaz, Valera, Mejia, or Wisdom instead of Voit. Why didn’t they?
August 29, 2017 at 9:20 pm #31900Duke might want to consider a new line of work after that put out. Nice reflexes!
August 29, 2017 at 9:34 pm #31902bccran
ParticipantVery scary. Especially if you’ve
ever pitched.August 29, 2017 at 9:40 pm #31903Yep, I was lucky though, my pitches usually ended up deep in the outfield.
August 29, 2017 at 10:36 pm #31905And the Cards win 10-2 so now we’re 1 whole game above .500…
