Carlos Martínez (10-9, 3.48) vs. RHP Matt Garza (6-7, 4.67) 6:40 pm FOX Sports Midwest
Note: Changed to Luke Weaver (2-1, 2.31)
Are they skipping Weaver this series?
From Brewers beat writer Tom Haudricourt:
“Cardinals have updated their starting pitchers for upcoming #Brewers series at Miller Park to Luke Weaver and Carlos Martinez.”

Matt Carpenter donating $10,000 for every home run he hits to the Houston relief effort. Waino and Cards org weighing in too. Good on them!
Our starting RF in 2018 just hit #51 tonight in Washington.
Doesn’t hurt as bad up 5-1 but more poor baserunning
Yep, when they’re struggling to get anyone out, you hate to give them one with the middle of the order up.
Would have just walked a run in
Top of the 5th, Cards up 7-1…
Wasn’t Leake suppose to start tonight? Glad it’s Weaver as he is dealing tonight
Carpenter a dinger, now 9-1 Redbirds.
Can the bullpen hold this one???
Carpenter’s dinger bring $30K to flood relief
colhusker, Leake started on Saturday, so two more games until his turn comes up again.
Thanks Brian, forgot he started then, thought I saw he was going tonight.
Looks like the low prospect ranked one position pony has 4 RBIs tonight to help the Cards get off to a good start on this road trip.
Maybe the Cards knew something when they moved Carp to 3B to make room for him.

My first thought was Weaver don’t need no stinking bullpen. After checking though, he’s been great tonight, but not efficient — currently over 90 pitches after 5 innings. But I’ll go out on a limb and say were okay since there will be no temptation to let Mayers get hammered for almost a full run through their lineup.
I wouldn’t give the Cards any more credit for “knowing” something other than they know their hand is forced to cover Gyorko’s loss for a couple weeks.
Nice to see Kelly’s contributions tonight.
They could have called up Diaz, Valera, Mejia, or Wisdom instead of Voit. Why didn’t they?
Duke might want to consider a new line of work after that put out. Nice reflexes!
Very scary. Especially if you’ve
ever pitched.
Yep, I was lucky though, my pitches usually ended up deep in the outfield.
And the Cards win 10-2 so now we’re 1 whole game above .500…
