Sorry NJ, but when someone puts the blame 75% on the manager for this season, it’s pretty sad.
On the other hand, these forums also bashed Tony brutally, so I guess it’s just something
people have in them that has to get out.

Hope you’re having a fine day, NJ, filled with happiness and joy.

    Good reference points.

To Brian’s statement, however, that we don’t have any “big bats” in the system, it just places emphasis that if Piscotty and Grichuk aren’t going to provide it, our only hopes at this time may be Voit, O’Neill, Bader, Wisdom, or A. Garcia. All at the upper end of the system.

Palm Beach is particularly tough. All the position players (besides Young) had an OPS in the .600s.
    Not one in the .700s.

At Peoria, The players in the .700s were O’Keefe, McCarvel, Robertson, and Jackson.

Onyx – 75%? You have to be kidding, right? Don’t let your hate get in the way of good judgement.

Thanks very much, Derek. 5 out of 20 in a 16 team league is pretty strong. Especially since it doesn’t include O’Neill. It will be interesting to see who we have in the Texas League Top 20. Hudson?
    Gomber? Alcantara? Mercado? Adolis Garcia?

The way they’ve performed, it’s turned into a bad hand.

    Piscotty
    Grichuk
    Peralta
    Diaz
    Carpenter (BA)
    Broxton
    Cecil
    Siegrist
    Oh
    Waino (injury)
    Leake
    G.Garcia

It’s been a rag tag season.

MM is a good manager. Look at the hand he’s been dealt.

Williams over Martinez is a bit skewed.

The failures of Grichuk, Piscotty, Peralta, and Diaz this year have been brutal.

They give you a huge break by muffing an easy double play ball. Then on the next pitch you give it right back to them with another double play ball.
Boy, this team is hard to watch.

It would be fun, 14. Will look forward to it.

I’m still thinking about Brian’s comment a few weeks ago that we don’t have any impact bats in our system.
That’s pretty depressing, since it’s our biggest need at the major league level. Kind of puts a damper on following a number of our position prospects. Why follow guys who will be average at the very best even if they make it, when that’s not what the big club needs.

At the end of every season, I compile statistics for every one of our minor leaguers on one 11×17 spread sheet. Just finished that. Where would be the break point on OPS as far as interesting prospects in 2017
    ?…800? .825? .850?

The thing that gets difficult in putting these prospect lists together is mixing pitchers with position players. Apples and oranges. The rating lists that I put together are by position – starters, relievers, catchers, corner infielders, middle infielders, corner outfielders, and center fielders. Understanding that some prospects can change positions. It doesn’t mean these lists are the right way to go about it, just personal choice. Overlapping these lists and anticipated arrival dates with term of contracts for existing Cardinal major league players is an interesting ongoing exercise.
    JMHO.

I thought this was a recreational excercise that was supposed to be fun and enjoyable. And then “14” says “you can figure out the caliber of some enrolled in this trek”. Seriously? You judge people in a negative way like that?
Then BlackHills seconds the motion? And worst of all our moderator piles on, when he’s supposed to monitor and correct things like this.

I respect a lot of people on this board. If someone comes forth with a vote for a player and supports it with logic that alters someone else’s thinking about his vote in that round, I would think it would be a good thing. Not something to be rudely criticized and slammed for.

O’Neill has an extremely high ceiling and is very young for his level. I originally had Hudson ahead of him, but decided that O’Neill’s possible impact as a middle of the order bat has a higher over ceiling as a plus to the Cards than a middle of the rotation starter.

People who put down other posters are abrasive. Hopefully we’re not here to insult or be insulted by others.
    Right, Brian?

Some people simply change their minds. Or make a slight adjustment to their list. I did. Hope that’s okay.

I’ll join Pads on this. O’Neill for #4. IMHO he has a higher ceiling than Bader.

Was going to go with LV here, but will go with Hudson instead for #3. He’s had a meteoric rise since being drafted.
