Well even with a no no we still should have turned it over getting the third time through the order for Mikolas. I’ll take the blame with Oli on this one assuming that run scores
Matz had a horrible start in Springfield. 5 unearned runs in 1.2 innings, but he has 2 errors himself
It is nice to see Walker with a good game today. 3 for 5 with HR. 3 line drives too although one of them was an out and he had a grounder hit
I normally wouldn’t say this, but given the circumstances, I would leave Mikolas in there for the 7th
I watched him last year in college as well. Big guy who makes throwing 100 look easy. It isn’t just the velocity, but the sharpness on the pitches and the aggressive attack the hitter approach.
The White Sox are probably the best place for him right now. Dejong still has it physically, but you could see mentally he wasn’t there and lacked confidence. There isn’t any pressure for the White Sox to make the playoffs as expectations are so low.
Well Woodford didn’t have to wait long to find a home. Pittsburgh is signing him to a minor league deal.
Based off Woodford’s performance so far it looks to be a wise decision not to pay him arb money.
Jake Woodford was DFA’ed by the White Sox and given his release. I’m surprised he couldn’t stick on their 40 man. I’m curious if Woodford will go to Korea of Japan this next off-season.
That is awful to hear about the players, but it isn’t unexpected given what gambling does to people. I hate seeing it advertised the time. I can imagine that for people struggle with addiction and specifically gambling have a hard time resisting the urge to relapse when being bombarded by ads and “free” offers.
Carlson with a 2 bagger. I like this lineup much better with Carlson in RF, Siani in CF, and Burly at DH. Much better defense and gets Carlson some time. Whether Stl thinks he is a part of their long term plans or not, he needs to play every day to get reps and maybe build some trade value. If he doesn’t succeed, oh well we aren’t a serious playoff contender this year.
I don’t think I have ever seen a pitcher spike more pitches 5+ feet in front of home than Pallante. Maybe death ball meant death to the dirt
Colorado has a good SS and CF with Amador at 2B being rated along with Winn prospect wise. Chase Dollander is their only decent SP prospect. Some good up the middle players but still not much for a core and they likely have plenty of more losing seasons in front of them. At least our org doesn’t look as bad as theirs.
In surprised Colorado called up 21 year old Amador. He has not played well in AA with a below .200 average, but he has been hitting over .300 lately. He is supposed to have a really good hit tool (70 grade) though

I find it interesting fans are now talking about Jeff Albert in a favorable opinion. This forum and all of Stl media were blaming the Cards hitting woes on Jeff Albert. I believe I recall you could hear “Fire Jeff Albert” chants at multiple games. It would seem the reason he mutually parted ways would very much be influenced by being one of the most disliked men in the city.
And, again, I find it funny that the Cardinals are so bad at analytics, but people who got their start in the Cardinals organization have now built the analytics departments for the Astros and Orioles.
Other teams poached our quality analytics team members that were innovative, and we were left with the average ones. It isn’t that surprising to me with the poaching we are much further behind them now.
The stadium looked quite empty. I wish they still counted the turnstyle ticks to show attended versus tickets sold. They are missing out on a lot of revenue from concessions and other at the ballpark sales.
The only thing the fans can do to show their displeasure is to vote with their wallet and not go to games. It certainly sounds like it has gotten Dewitt’s attention, but I don’t know if it will have the intended effect. Dewitt will likely just cut costs further since the revenue was lower rather than spending more in hopes of having a quality team. The is the approach the A’s took and then blamed the fans.
Maybe if anything it will convince the team to be sellers at the deadline if they aren’t well over .500. They will get savings in trades of the vets for the remainder of the year. I actually think the best thing for this team in 25 and beyond is to sell the players in my other threads likely and maybe categories. We need a retool to build up on young quality players (also they are cheaper for Dewitt). We have some good young pieces to build around, so we don’t need a complete teardown and rebuild.
Hence will be making his next start as it was just cramping. That is great to hear he isn’t hurt.

Yeah LA is right. No one wants to see Burly fail as the Cards need all the talent they can get. But there are so many conversations he is brought up that he doesn’t need to be involved in. Everyone here knows Shady thinks of Burly like his son/grandson and nothing other than pure complements will do; not everyone feels the same on his potential, but to each there own.
Tovar has a bright future. I wish we could sign Winn to an extension like Colorado did Tovar last offseason
