Wonder what Rat will put as the over/under on Skenes’ strikeout total? If he goes six, it has to be in double figures. I will go with 11 as the o/u, and would throw a fin at the over. Goldy and Gorman could get half of the number by themselves.

    BikeMike,
If the over/under is 11 I am going to take the under. This one could go either way. I guess time will tell. I do see that the weather is supposed to heat up here in the midwest this week. It’s almost summer time!

And even though it’s Monday……din-din today will be some chicken in the oven using Shake n’ Bake. Along with some mashed potatoes, an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew, and some Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean ice cream for dessert. And tomorrow is my monthly trip to the German Restaurant down in Jasper, the Snitzlebank. A ground sirloin, german fries, green beans, and a Pepsi. I hope the hot waitress is working tomorrow..:)

The bad news is that the place where I order my 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigars doesn’t have them at the moment, out of stock. So I had to go with the 6×50 Palma Real Toro for a few weeks.

Yeah, 11 is pretty aggressive for the over/under. But the way our club flails at pitches out of the zone, I think Skenes will get some Ks both in the zone and out.

It could be that he is done after 5 with “only” around 8 or 9 strikeouts.

We are having a pork roast for din-din tomorrow, with mashed potatoes and a big tossed salad topped with Olive Garden Italian dressing. Lady Bike has the pork roast thawing and will put it in the crockpot with seasonings tomorrow. This evening (Monday) I grilled some Andoulle (sp?) sausages on the patio grille that we had topped with homemade chili and grated cheddar cheese. We also had the aforementioned salad. We had a big family get together here yesterday that featured spaghetti and the Olive Garden salad, and have a ton of salad left over so that will be a staple for the next week. Last night featured wine as the drink of choice, but with just the two of us again we rarely have anything other than water as the beverage. I will indulge in a cold, frosty one now and then, moreso in summer. But usually plain old boring H2O is the liquid refreshment.

I’m really up for this epic four-way struggle to be the worst in the NL Central! I thought the Cardinals might have the edge but then they went and won a couple of nice games lately which has rather tainted their image as complete duds. Who knows. It’s still relatively early, and if they hold a steady pace of losing two of every three in each series they could still pull it off.

Treading water vs bad teams is discouraging.

It is a battle of the mustaches tonight. I’m not a fan of either of pitcher’s mustache though.

Yeah, after Rollie, Goose, Sparky and Al, any other cookie duster is humdrum.

Mikolas has a decent ‘stash in my opinion. Last year for awhile he shaved it and got his hair cut, and it just did not look like him. He had sort of a mature Opie Taylor look. He’s definitely better with the longer hair and ‘stash look.

Of course he is. The outright purpose of any pitcher’s cookie duster is to create a look that intimidates the hitter. No hitter was ever intimidated by Opie Taylor…Not even Bevacqua!

They sure did, but we were talking about pitchers. Try to stay on topic, Bling…I don’t want to see you get in trouble with BW.

Opie did get robbed in that episode where his dad called him out at the plate in the big game against Mt. Pilot though. Had he been old enough to sport a mustache he might have earned a safe call.

But the all-time best pitcher mustache has to be Rollie Fingers. Some guys in the 1880s probably has as good or better ones, but in the modern era Fingers’ handlebar ‘stash was unique.

I had no idea Andy hosed Opie on a close play at the plate. He was probably on the take with one of those handicappers from Mt. Pilot…And yeah, Fingers is without question the benchmark…And some of those guys from the 1880’s were probably sporting that facial hair when they were a member of the infantry battalion that participated in Pickett’s charge at Gettysburg, so you just know they were looking pretty wild and woolly on the diamond…

I was kind of disappointed Whitey flipped Rollie. I wanted to see him up close live game. But we did alright with the moves he made.

That trade still looks to be lunacy. Simmons, Fingers and Vuckovich for Green, LaPoint, Lezcano and Sorenson. I don’t know how he got away with it, but he did.

Tonight’s game is a big one. It’ll decide whether the Cardinas drop into last place or vault themselves back into a tie for the NL WC…Haha!

I watched him last year in college as well. Big guy who makes throwing 100 look easy. It isn’t just the velocity, but the sharpness on the pitches and the aggressive attack the hitter approach.
