On Monday, the #stlcards system was 0-2. TCN’s Player of the Day, DSL C Rainiel Rodriguez, singled, doubled and drove in three. Other standouts: Yaisel Ramos, Yordalin Pena, Gabriel Chinchilla and Oliver Gonzalez. We set up Tuesday’s full system schedule. https://t.co/frD8fX3KkK pic.twitter.com/crKkyCShCW

June 11, 2024 at 8:02 pm #255897It is nice to see Walker with a good game today. 3 for 5 with HR. 3 line drives too although one of them was an out and he had a grounder hit
June 12, 2024 at 6:21 am #255934The #stlcards system was 2-2 on Tuesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Peoria LH Quinn Mathews, went six scoreless innings on three hits and eight strikeouts. June 12, 2024 at 8:16 am #255942I imagine if Mathews continues to pitch at the level he has been for the next month in Peoria, he will get promoted to Springfield. Seeing him continue to pitch well in A+ where he is more age appropriate gives me some more confidence in him overall. If he pitched to the same level of production in AA with high K rates for a month or so, I think he will sneak onto the back end of some top 100 prospect lists.
June 12, 2024 at 8:45 am #255945It was hard to tell from the clip of Jordan’s HR seeing it on my phone, but it looked like an awful long swing. It did look like the open stance was less pronounced.
So far, so good with Mathews, but don’t look to far ahead with an A level guy.
June 12, 2024 at 10:28 am #255955It is nice to see Mathews continue to have success, but as has been pointed out, at age 23 it is time to continue moving up the ladder.
June 12, 2024 at 11:18 am #255964Do we know who Hjerpe replaces in the AA rotation?
June 12, 2024 at 3:00 pm #255993Do we know who Hjerpe replaces in the AA rotation?
I didn’t see any corresponding outbound transactions.
Hjerpe gave up 5 runs in 2.2 innings today…
June 12, 2024 at 7:39 pm #256044This week, Springfield is using a six-man rotation instead of five.
June 12, 2024 at 8:52 pm #256062The Chiefs have been hitting much better lately. They were last by a mile in their league, but they’ve had several games lately with a bunch of runs. Levenson doing better (including a huge game today). Baez has been hitting some now. Harris came back off the IL and has been solid. And getting Rotondo to come down from AA has been a big lift. Cho even hit a homer – I think his 2nd one.
June 12, 2024 at 8:56 pm #256063I’m glad to see Honeyman in Palm Beach now.
Paniagua pitched really well tonight with 5 shut out innings with 8Ks and 0BBs. I would have considered moving him to the pen when Mathews was promoted, but Paniagua has really shown since he deserves a starting spot. He is 24 though so he needs to get to AA.
We have a lot of pitchers that are either in AA or should be soon with so few spots available. There aren’t rotation spots in Memphis either. It will be interesting to see how we sort it out as some guys may go to RP and others could be in deadline trades.
June 13, 2024 at 6:42 am #256071Chase Davis sighting. Good night for the kid. Single, 2 doubles and a homer in double hitter. Now can he take some confidence from this?
June 13, 2024 at 7:12 am #256075Hopefully he can. He certainly had a really good day yesterday in the double header. Davis has the raw physical tools, but he needs to refine them.
June 13, 2024 at 7:17 am #256076The #stlcards system was 2-4 on Wednesday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Peoria RH Inohan Paniagua, pitched five scoreless innings with eight strikeouts. Other standouts include Dakota Harris, Zach Levenson, Chase Davis and Darlin Saladin. https://t.co/FlBcmdFu2t pic.twitter.com/7G9X2D7xBP

June 14, 2024 at 6:13 am #256201The #stlcards system went 2-2 on Thursday, with two games suspended. TCN’s Players of the Day, Memphis RH Gordon Graceffo (p) and Palm Beach LH Ixan Henderson, each tossed six scoreless innings with seven Ks. June 15, 2024 at 10:27 am #256364Bernal has been having a really good month so far. His offense has been picking up. Hopefully the defense is progressing as well
Rincon with another outing to show I was wrong about moving him to the BP. Good to see.
And Thompson continues to be an enigma. When he doesn’t walk a lot of hitters, he gives up a lot of hits and runs. When he walks a lot though, he hardly allows hits and then no runs.
June 15, 2024 at 10:30 pm #256485Chase Davis has really been heating up in June. He is hitting .313 with a .421 OBP and a really good .750 slugging. Another HR tonight and he drew 3 walks.
Walker also had a good day. He went 2 for 3 with a walk and double. Hopefully these two young OFs can continue their recent successes.
June 16, 2024 at 7:31 am #256492The #stlcards system went 1-4 on Saturday with three one-run losses. TCN’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach OF Chase Davis, homered, walked 3x, drove in two and scored 2x. Other standouts: Jordan Walker, Matt Lloyd, Tyler Bradt, Chen-Wei Lin, Paulo Asprilla and Juan Pablo Cabrera.… pic.twitter.com/ZdaORYQSSX

June 16, 2024 at 7:50 am #256494Randy Flores must be relieved that Davis might have a pulse after all, but they can’t hide him in low A forever.
With Walker I guess they’ve been working on zone discipline and contact and then try to add in power, but who knows what they are doing.
June 16, 2024 at 8:04 am #256497Regarding Walker, yes he is working on things right now. Katie Woo at The Athletic has an article with some answers from Mo. I’ll give a brief paraphrase of the Walker quotes, but will share the article link as I don’t want to directly quote a couple paragraphs from paid material.
Walker is working on what sounds like a pretty significant tweak to his swing to modify his bat approach and put the ball in the air more. The club is being patient with him and realizes a chance like this may even take an off-season to fully be implemented. They also are watching his performance and want to see XBH hits improve along with his OBP.
June 17, 2024 at 8:05 am #256627The #stlcards system went 3-1 on Sunday, including two wins in extras. TCN’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach C Sammy Hernandez, drove in four including the tying and winning runs. Other standouts: Adam Kloffenstein, Nick Dunn, Bryan Torres, Quinn Mathews, Chris Rotondo, Roy Garcia,… pic.twitter.com/CkfhekyRuy

June 17, 2024 at 8:39 am #256630Walker getting a total makeover. What were they looking at when he was coming up and in AA?
June 17, 2024 at 1:55 pm #256645I blame Jeff Albert. Well, he and Dr. Paletta. 😉
June 17, 2024 at 1:58 pm #256646The #stlcards have two league Players of the Week for the period of June 10-16. Both are in A-ball and both were drafted in 2023, Peoria’s Dakota Harris and Palm Beach’s Chase Davis. https://t.co/GCezvHa7HS pic.twitter.com/SpH04uNaNM
