Ok I am all in with Goldy. Now trade for Bumgarner, sign Britton. Make CMart the closer. Now that’s a team for 2019!
I am very happy for Kelly. Hope he is very successful in his career. Now we only need to sign a 50 yr old backup catcher and Yadi will very happy.
They got Goldy. So lets move on. Anything else is pure speculation. We have what we have. Hope for the best anything else would be foolish. I rather have Harper but you are right you get the best you can get. So make more moves and move on from Harper it was a pipe dream after all.
It is not about being upset. It is about hoping they made a difference choice. I am fine with Goldy for 2019 and like I said before will be happy to eat crow for a 2019 title. I was hoping for the younger choice with Harper. They didn’t I move on. I never doubted they would get Goldy I just wished they didn’t.
Well we know what Goldy did from 26-31. We don’t know what Harper will do from 26-31. The question is what Goldy does from 31-37 will be better than Harper’s. I would take my chances on Harper but that’s a personal choice. Moot point anyway. I hope Goldy’s 2019 will make me forget Harper.
The devil is in the details. What is or isn’t an illegal shift? Who makes the call? Will we have more reviews to see if the player “crossed” the line from legal to illegal.
Of course there is no way of telling. But the odds are after 32 there will be a decline. How steep who knows?
Big win only if he has a good year. As far as signing him long term no thanks. Can we say Pujols after 31??
I am not unhappy about what we gave up I just didn’t want Goldy at all. But I am hoping to be so wrong.
So what would be an “illegal” defensive shift? Only the ones affecting pull hitters or are others included? Bringing the infield in? Bringing the outfield in? When does it cross the line from better position to becoming an illegal shift? You should be able to position your players as you see fit. Don’t like hit where they ain’t.
I have no doubt Goldy makes the team much better. It is not about that. If it is a 1 year deal I can live with that. I just do not want Goldy 33-37 or even 38. If trading for Goldy wins the 2019 WS I will serve myself a huge plate of crow put salt and pepper and be very happy to eat all of it. I just don’t see it.
I can understand him being that good ages 26-31. How long of a contract will he get based on those numbers? Has any long-term contract with players on the wrong side of 30 have worked out? I can only think of one. Matt Holliday. Will we be as lucky the second time around? I don’t want Goldy but I can accept I am a minority of one on this.
I like Machado as much as you do Harper. I think Harper is better and makes much more sense than Machado or Goldy. But no worries Harper is not coming here and thankfully neither is Machado. I am not for trading for Goldy at all but that would be the most likely scenario. To each his own.
Harper is younger and only cost money. Will they sign the then 32 yr Goldy to long-term contract? If Harper is not worth 10 years at 26, how many years will it take to keep Goldy? Cano got 10 at 32 and Goldy is better than Cano. So hello Goldy until 41!
We are not going to sign Harper and that’s a mistake. I don’t want Machado. I doubt we would trade for Goldy and that trade would be a mistake so I am hoping it doesn’t happen. As far as Fowler goes I would talk to the Mariners and see if something clicks.
Of course there is a need to spend in a free agent. I want Harper because this team needs a marquee player. They have money pay the man and go from there. There is much more at stake here than just who plays outfield. The fans need to see team make a huge investment for a coveted free agent. I am so tired of the same approach since Pujols left. Insanity is keep doing the same things expecting different results. As far as Fowler goes trade him for an equally bad contract in another area where we could use more than RF. Get Seager as some have suggested.
