Nice post Jnevel. Yadi just isn’t the manager for this team at this point in time. Oli is. Maybe in a couple years they flip Oli up to the front office and Yadi to the field. Cohesion in the organization right now is as important as anything.
If the POBO and the field manager have a good working relationship, I think that’s a good thing. So in that light, I will give Oli a reset. He’s the manager thru the rebuild. If his game day decisions don’t improve, we replace him when it’s time to compete.
Bernal, Rodriguez, and Crooks aren’t guys I would be willing to part with until at least one of them proves to be an above average ML catcher.

It’s pretty hard to predict a lineup for this group until the spring games wInd down. I think some spots will actually be won on performance. Or at least playing time to open the season. Urias makes it interesting. He could earn some pt if JJ or Gorman struggle badly. Church could definitely win an outfield position if he hits. Scott could transform his value if he can get his obp up enough to lead off. Anyone saying Wetherholt will leadoff is probably just looking at his college days. If he hits I see him hitting second. The biggest question for me is what happens with Noot if Church plays well?

I agree with everything you say. There’s always been a few teams spending more than everyone else in any given year. The Cardinals were successful with a model that had a group identifying and procuring talent. When Tony left it seems ownership let one guy pretty much call all the shots on player procurement. It didn’t work. Eventually it crumbled but we let that guy hang around a few years too long. Now we are joining the rest of the world in the fight against Goliath. Our new guy seems to have a good plan. They will hire a few mercenaries in the next year or so after the new litter is weaned and we should return to relevance. I will be watching.
Ledbetter seems like a throw in at 46.

I take Winn and Scott. They both just need to change their approach to achieve better productivity. Walker and Gorman are a little more complicated.
