Pages ruined that inning by not being able to bunt then striking out.

Can’t get the runner in from 2ndbase in the last of the 10th.

On to the 11th still tied 1-1.

Why is Roycrap pitching in extras?

It seems inevitable one of these relievers can’t throw strikes.

We have now used six relievers. There are only two left.

They intentionally walk Herrera then Burly hits into the double play.

    Up to Winn.

It’s a bloop single to win but I’ll take it. Another series win.

The IBB pays dividends but the wounded duck RBI places this one in the W column.

Wasn’t pretty but we will take it!

Hey taking 2 out of 3 in each of the first two series isn’t bad. We are 4-2.

Bruhil with a good bounce back inning in releif

    Solid start for Liberatore

Roycroft…may be back in Memphis soon

At some point would think they would have to give Crooks a look as he is smoking the ball at Memphis in 5 games…3 HR’s, 6 RBI’s and hitting .533

Not much to complain about here in the early going. The team is playing good baseball. Today’s reported attendance 21,684.

That’s right at an average gate for the entire decade of the 70’s.

Nice to start out with two series wins. Man those Brewers look like the beat to beat though. Way too early to tell of course until you make the rounds a few times, but they just always seem to have a lot of synergy.

I knew a guy who always seemed to have some really good insight regarding the game of baseball who claimed that he never bothered taking a look at the standings until around mid August. The notion made sense to me but I still check them every day from opening day until the final game of the regular season…Haha!

I look now and than until mid summer. But I usually have a pretty good idea where the Cardinals are. I don’t miss many games

With Roycroft and Svanson off to slow starts, you might think about optioning one. But…who is there to call up?
Here are the guys on the 40-man in Memphis:
    Dobbins (IL)
    Fernandez
    Fitts
    Hence
    Mautz
    Raquet

I’d think they would want Fitts and Mautz to be in the rotation as ready help for the big leagues, and Mautz just threw his first AAA game. Hence just got his first AAA appearance. Fernandez has struggled, too. Raquet? Or would they decide to drop someone from the 40-man Rajcic? Naugton? Blewett? I’d think not Gastelum just yet. I’d thought Prieto would be the first to go, but he’s off to a torrid start, OPS of 1.718.

Over in the AL the Yankees open the season at 5-1 with all those games being played on the road. And out on the West coast of Missouri the Royals are 2-2 and our old friend Michael Wacha worked 6 scoreless innings in a no decision in his first turn this season. I expect the Royals to win the ALC and it wouldn’t surprise me too much if they made a nice run in the AL postseason. That SS they have over there in KC is in the same class as the great Freddie Patek…
