We need to know what Walker can do at the big league level. Now is the time to find out. If there’s still no hope by all star break, make a move. But it’s probably permanent.

First injury he’s back up unless Bloom commits to leaving him down. Torres could backfill for injury if Chaim is committed to a Walker “reset”.

Could see what we have with the old man Bryan before we let another outfielder slip thru the cracks.

What is 1,300 or so MLB PAs going to tell us that 1,039 MLB PAs has not already told us?

The timing seems right to play Velazquez and Fermin/Saggese/Church on the corners, while Walker resets and Noot re-habs. Torres as injury depth while Walker/Baez get milb work and we wait on Noot.
I’m in favor of play em’ all, but pick the ones who seem mlb ready.

Maybe nothing. But I give Bloom credIt for making a move that will get it over with. This player had some success before they messed with him. They’re trying to rectify the mistake. If it works great if it doesn’t, they’re probably done with it.

My regular reminder that what fans want the team to do and what the Cardinals will most likely do are often different. But not always…

Pretty much everything they’ve done since Bloom became POBO makes sense if you are looking from the perspective of a rebuild. If you are looking from the perspective of how to win the most games, it’s stupid. I’m not going to criticize those people. They think my pov is stupid. But that’s just me. I was never less entertained than I have been these last few years, trying to do just enough to make the wildcard.

My logic on sending Walker down now is that it maximizes the time he can work and develop to come back up. He only has 1 option left. Use it now and leave him down all season if needed. If we wait until the all-star break, then we are using that option to buy only 2 months of preparation.

Walker has quick hands and can swing ultra hard. He can do this. He can be successful. But first he has to get better at reading and adapting to pitches. Normal ball players learn that as they advance through the minors. Walker skipped a whole step and advanced quickly during the other steps.

The only reasons not to send him down now are that we barely have any true outfielders and that we are only playing for development. But it’s hard to develop the top of the pyramid when you’re missing a middle section.

JNevel your opinion is as good as anyone else’s. You make a compelling case to send him down.

We also have to worry about hurting his feelings

Yea my dad told me you are a boy and boys don’t have feelings. I guess they changed that

Walker may not be blocking anyone today but if Baez rakes at Memphis the drumbeat will only get louder.

Just as it should be, gscottar. When Baez shows he can play above the Triple-A level for a consistent period of time, I will be among his loudest supporters for a promotion. If Walker is still struggling then, he will probably need to step aside. If Walker starts hitting in the interim, then Nootbaar could be the next to feel the heat.

BW, if others like Baez have to prove their worth to challenge for Walkers roster spot, how does Walker get gifted RF until then? When does Walker have to prove his worth?

Cherry picking who has to earn a spot and who doesn’t is not a fair competition, but it’s a good reason for Torres to bail on ST for the WBC exposure.

Walker isn’t blocking anyone GS, because the Rays scooped up Ryan Vilade this winter. Walkers competition is by design. Open runways.

Walker illustrates the reason not to fall in love too soon. He blasted some Texas League mistakes into the parking lot a few years ago. He is still riding that and the Cardinals are still grasping that.

At this point, the discussion feels repetitive to me. Walker will probably get some more rope until either he improves or someone steps up to claim those at-bats.

+1 There’s really not anything left to say. We sufficiently beat this 🐎 to death. Time to let it die and wait and see.

Lineup regulars who haven’t hit a lick yet are Winn, Scott, Pages and Walker. Of those, Pages can most readily be sat if need be, so its 1/3 of the lineup that needs to get it together.

Gorman, Church and Fermin w/2 hits each. Gorman w/another dinger. Peete keeps making noise. Now if we could just get Pallante to face the Marlins three of every four GS during the season.

Play Church in center. Call up Crooks. Winn will hit. We aren’t talking about the other guy anymore. Fixed

Church hit .179, Crooks hit .133, Winn OPS+ 90, The guy who cannot be mentioned OPS+ 66. I think you should replace “fixed” with “pray”.

We can longer speak of him and management quit playing him. Maybe the world class facilities we spent the player budgets on can fix “that guy”.
